British title scene.

Post by stujones »

I was reading the article on Britishboxing.net about the latest championship match ups from the BBBoC. Some unusual ones I have to say.

Firstly, I looks like Jimmy Vincent will get his shot at the winner of Hare vs Barnes as Harry Dhami has pulled out of the proposed eliminator. I applaud the involvement of Vincent, long overdue.

Another fighter who is long overdue a shot is Alan Bosworth, He won an eliminator yonks ago - but again there seems no proposed date for him vs Witter. Instead, Bosworth has the option of fighting for the EU championship vs Francis Barrett. I think that is a bit of tough fortune for Bosworth, he deserves his shot at the big prize following his win over Smith. I'm sure his #1 status will be jeopordised if he refuses to take the Barrett match.

Did John Simpson win some kind of eliminator contest at Featherweight, I believe his #1 ranking is a bit of a kind jesture if he didn't (Stephen Foster Jnr anyone?)

Another strange match up is the proposed Oboh vs Michaelenko match up for the EU title. This would be a backward step for a backward belt for Oboh and if the match goes ahead, it only shows just how avoided he is.

Browne vs Swaby is a decent eliminator for the British Cruiserweight title.

Granted, but Bosworth has come back from that and one his eliminator bouts that the BBBoC sanctioned. I am not saying Bosworth will beat Witter, because he won't. However, when you've won these eliminator's you have earned your crack at the title.

For the British title fights, apart from Hare beating Barnes and Vincent I cannot see any of the other challengers winning.
