The Bowers boys looked after me very well when i moved to london..... real nice guys.
The sentences they got were ridiculous, Tony got 12 years.... 12 years for robbery, no guns, no one hurt and 12 fornicating years....
You can kill someone and get less.
Martin got 7 years..... again a huge sentence in my opinion

How very true, my uncle was mudered (first degree) Judge sentenced him for life (with no chance of appeal). The killers family wrote to the last conservative Home Secretary citing that he had two young boys and the home secretary made sure the sentence was reduced. He was out after 6.knockout wrote:You can kill someone and get less.

Lets not kid ourselves, in this day and age where long sentences don't seem to happen has much has they should. If you get that sort of sentence , you can guarantee theres stuff been said in court thats not public.
In other words to get that sort of sentence you have to be a pretty mean sort of character.

the press were in court and had freedom to write what they wanted so the public know exactly what was said in court.coneye wrote:Lets not kid ourselves, in this day and age where long sentences don't seem to happen has much has they should. SO what we can assume is that the judge decided that they were "pretty mean characters" without much evidence to do so
C'mon lads, you're not daft. HH is right when he says "If you can't do the time....", and I'm sure the Bowers bros agree. They knew what they were getting into and they knew what would happen if they got caught and convicted. They took a risk and it didn't pay off, shame for them, but such is life.
Sentencing is very simple, it only seems harsh to those who don't understand this simple theory:
If you knew you'd only get 2 years for attempting to steal - or actually stealing - 1 million quid from HSBC, would you be tempted to have a go?
Answer: YES
If you knew you'd only get 2 years for raping a 3 year old, would you be tempted to have a go?
Answer: NO (I hope)
Financially motivated crimes need a serious deterrent, otherwise everyone would be at it. Noncey stuff will happen regardless because the people are born twisted. Understand?
