The aiba.org site's video feeds worked fine for me from September 1 - 7. Today all of a sudden it doesn't work. Very frustrating. I've tried 3 different computers with 2 different internet connections and 2 different internet providers. Is it down for everyone?

I'm very disappointed that my connection to www.aiba.org didn't work today. I really wanted to see the Russo vs. Mekhontsev bout. I knew it was going to be close. Russo lost 7-5. Any comments from anyone who saw it?

Mekhontsev took the lead rather early and had the fight under control after that, with faster, cleaner and more accurate punches than the Italian. The score would probably have been wider in another country...
Now I'm really looking forward to see Mekhontsev-Usyk in one of the semifinals.
The two boxing powers Russia and Cuba are showing why they are typically the two countries that win the most medals in boxing. They both have 9 boxers heading into today's quarterfinals. That is amazing to get 9 of 11 boxers to the quarters. One of the bouts that I would love to see (hopefully the site works today) is the clash between the titans at featherweight-57kg between Yasniel Toledo Lopez of Cuba and Sergey Vodopiyanov of Russia. It should be a good one. It may be the only bout where a boxer from these two teams loses today.
Frankie Gomez just won RSC - 3 over Egidijus Kavaliauskas of Lithuania. It looks like Kavaliauskas received three 8 counts in the 3rd and it was stopped. He is in the semis next so at least USA will get one medal.

Andrew told me he spoke with the team manager Nick Cimmento and evidently Frankie has been the big talk around the tournament. He must be boxing really well and people have been impressed watching him.

That's really good news. I trust Nick's judgment and observations. Frankie isn't pretty - he just gets in the ring and gets the job done.

Mel - I think Frankie looks very skilled. He is tough and determined. Very impressive for such a young boxer. That is why I thought Mike's semifinal predictions were pretty good, but I told him that I thought he made a mistake at 141 and that Frankie would be a semi-finalist.
It's going to be a rematch of the Olympics 91+ kg match between Cammarelle of Italy and Zhang of China in the finals of the worlds. Cammarelle won 1-0. Must of been an exciting match to watch We'll see how much Zhang's training in the US paid off since it looks like he is going pro with the Duva's with Al Mitchell and Charles Mooney training him. I guess Zhang will bypass the WSB.
Guys
Can u tell me who won in the bout between Artur Beterbiev and the Jose Larduet Gomez, aiba website is not showing the score. The finals will be interesting, i reckon Serdamba will probably get better of Ayrapetyan, Valentino might just sneak it against Pedraza, Camerelle win 2nd world title, i reckon Jack Culcay Keth might win but not sure, Zamskovoy seems tough to beat southpaw Sapiyev. Dalaktiev to win against Abzalimov.
Vijender will be in the final tommorow, and will win gold. Misha ALOYAN is favourite in 51kg if her wins against Tugstsogt NYAMBAYAR.
Vasyl LOMACHENKO for 57kg but Bahodirjon SULTONOV VODOPIYANOV, 2 good fighters.
Frankie Gomez (usa) favourite, if the beats Kate,
Osmai ACOSTA DUARTE for 91kg

Beterbiev won 10-6. If you click on the results at the bottom of the page, you get the final score sheet of each bout. That was bout 519.

Wow. How the hell is Coach Mooney ending up training Zhang?
