Barry Hearn.

I don't know if anybody has been watching the Late night poker on Channel 5 but Barry Hearn anhilated at pro/celebrity field of quality poker players to progress to Saturday's nights final.

Perhaps surprisingly the two proffesional players were eliminated fairly early in this heat as Hearn and celebrity tipster John McCruirick were the final two places left on the table. Barry was decribed as playing "perfect".

Of course it all down to the cards, but he's got a great poker face and was bluffing some great players - he may have a chance at the jackpot on Saturday.

The show is made by Matchroom sport, so I did find it odd that Hearn was allowed to play.

i like watching the poker on tv. used to like watching it when it was on channel 4 too. much better than snooker etc.

i reckon with a bit of pushing it could be a very popular tv sport. i mean you get 500k for winning the world snooker title or somethiong, imagine how good it would be watching guys playing cards for that aoutn!!

dunno what the anti-fun lobby would make of prime time gambling on tv mind you!!

I finding this one very enjoyable to watch, I'm no poker player but I think the fact the player is only dealt two cards makes the game quicker and better for television.

Texas hold'em it's called, it's the most popular form of betting poker these days.

It's a Barry Hearn production, it says matchroom sports at the end of the programme.

I like the show, and I've played against one of the guys who made the finals 'Maverick' on pokerstars at my mates house. There's a few internet players in there as well who are kicking the professionals arses.

When is the final?

the guy who won last night a londener i think, forget his name but it was a real irish sounding one (brendan o'shaunessy or something). apparently it was his first time at a real poker table having only played online before.
