Boxing: Youngster Nurse hits top form Oct 20 2004
By The Huddersfield Daily Examiner
LEADING Huddersfield amateur boxer Tyrone Nurse scored a fine victory on his Yorkshire debut.
The 14-year-old son of the town's professional trainer Chris Aston, who is coached by Mick Wale at Mexborough ABC, beat Irish 54 kilos champion Patrick Kinhart as the white-rose youngsters took on County Mayo at Leeds Irish Centre.
It was a ninth win in 10 bouts for Nurse, who now takes part in the Yorkshire round of the National Novices Championship, for fighters who have boxed 10 bouts or less.
That takes place at Birdwell, near Barnsley, on Saturday.
"Tyrone has real potential and shows a great attitude and workrate. Hopefully, the Novices will be a stepping stone for him," said Wale.
