The ref is a crook

What on earth was he thinking

Everyone seen what took place

If he thought it would just be forgotten about then he was badly mistaken

This was taking the mick too far - and now I hope the crook gets sacked

Its the fighter I feel sorry for - all that hard work and pain and sacarifce - his livehood - his English Heavyweight title - his money - his bills to pay

taken from him because of a petty ref who could not take it the lads father smacked the shit out of him 30 years earlier

What a unprofessional man - get him out of this postion of trust and authority NOW

He is a disgrace to British Boxing as Frank Maloney said and making people think Boxing is governed by a bunch of jokers

i certainly feel that boxing is a joke but we don't know if losing to his Dad had a blind thing to do with it, come on. I very much doubt it. And besides, if he did get kayoed by the fella's Dad, why the f*ck should he want to take it out on his son. That's laughable IMO.

They can do what they want I suppsoe, but I think as people have mentioned here before it'll set a bit of a precident. Especially as Terry O Connor is presumably going to be watching the fight over and over and over to give his reasoning for the verdict. Cleaner punching etc...

The problems with having one man judge something he's involved in.

Maloney is erroneously , although you can understand why, calling for a reverse decision i.e. award it to Mcdermott, or, make the fight result void. Or at least that is my understanding of it.
I would benefit financially to the tune of hundreds if they awarded it to McDermott now, but it would be a right old mess. I think they should just make it void......then give both fighters, especially Mcdermott, the option of whether he would like to contest it again.

If Mcdermott could see that justice had been done, it would be so much easier to prepare for. Don't forget, a fighter needs to reach a mental, not just physical peak, when entering the ring.

If Mcdermott chose to go back into the ring to try to win back his belt from Fury, with Fury as champ coming into the ring, I think that would badly hamper Mcdermott mentally and make him vulnerable. Mcdermott needs to see this awful mess, addressed, and corrected as best and as quickly as possible for the sake of his future career and sanity IMO.

These people that just say...oh leave the result as it stands and send them in for another go at it.....really seem to be lacking several brain cells if you ask me. Sure, give them that option, but only after the first debacle has been declared void, and I'll stick my neck out now and say that is exactly what I think will happen.

Surely then the can of worms will be opened? Will Jimmy Vincent come out of the woodwork and ask for his fight to be looked at claiming costs from David Barnes etc... ?

Easiest and ''cleanest'' thing is to mandate a rematch and repremand the ref. Its his opinion after all, isnt it?

I didn't see that fight u mention, although I have heard about it.

As for the second point, as I have stated, it would be grossly unfair to, and hinder his preparation, to make John contest a rematch under those circumstances, even if he agreed to it, unless the result was first made void.

I hope they do give a no contest... I just worry that if they end up having a rematch, the same McDermott won't turn up.

Would be marvellous if they changed the result around though! Well, it would be fair. I had it the same score the ref gave, but the other way around! Yea, there will be other boxers annoyed because of results they felt they won e.t.c... But come on guys... This has to be the most contraversial ever!

Yea ok, Fury was the busier, but McDermott isn't a 'busy' fighter. Most heavyweights aren't!

All I can say is imagine if Fury was 6'3! He would of been outta there within first round me thinks.

It's easy to say 'well if the ref was paid, he would of given it to Fury by closer' e.t.c, or to make any excuse, the fact is, we can't all be wrong, everybody knew who won.

There was something very suspicious about the refereeing the whole evening, including after the first round when Fury got teasy at McDermott's showboating (loved it!) so went in for the headbutt, the ref warned McDermott and not Fury!
The low blows... How many did fury do to McD... How many got called up..?
All the holding by Fury, especially on one or two occasions when he appeared to be out on his feet, and looked like he was attempting to touch his toes... None of that got called up, just lots of warnings to McD for holding. Yea he holds... Name a heavyweight that doesn't!

Theres lots of things, and of course we are all going to be looking for them, but there all there!

Good luck Frank and McDermott, deserve to get this one.

Looking forward to the prizefighter too.. Predictions?

McDermott should get the winner in british title fight.

Flint Island - if your posts are allowed to stay on this thread - I will be stunned.

If the moderators get rid of sh*t about a certain promoter then your posts calling the Referee a crook are bang out of order and you should be reprimanded for it.

It's a dodgey result, it should be overturned or at least a no contest though. Anything less is injustice.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Frank get a reprimand rather than anything else actually happening - I guess they might enforce a rematch at best.
