Frank Maloney

Post by steve689 »

Not sure if this is deserving of its own thread or not, but I'm not worried.

Just sparing a thought for Frank Maloney who isn't doing too well right this minute, both physically and emotionally I'm sure. This may have been covered over on the other topic but it's getting a bit long now!

The Boxing community often pulls together on occasions such as these but I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that whenever we hear of these deaths sometimes we are guilty of writing the same messages of condolence without really thinking a great deal about them. But in this case I think it's 100% genuine grief and shock. Certainly on my part.

So I'd like to put this on record as : Get well soon Frank.

Such a sad case for everyone involved.

Maloney has had a rough week. That must have been a horrific shock to find Darren as he did. Hope Frank is well soon.

I spoke to Frank briefly at Prizefighter about Darren as I really wanted to go and see him fight in London. As it turned out he did fight in London, but I was out of the country at the time so couldn't attend. I think Darren was hugely likeable and had an amazing future ahead of him. He mentioned once on this website that a very low point in his life was when he was in the amateurs and injured his eye whilst operating out of Sheffield and eventually quit for a couple of years. He also mentioned less than a year ago that since then he became calmer and lived each day as though it's his last and was enjoying his boxing more than ever. What has changed since then to the point of taking his own life some of us will never know or understand.

Get well soon Frank.

Get well soon Frank. I read in one of todays articles that he may actually have had the heart attack last week. FM is such a tough b*stard that I expect he just thought it was wind and carried on.

I'm a big fan of his, very personable and approachable. Shame he doesn't promote David Haye in my opinion.

Anyway, off topic. i hope he can get well and enjoy the rest of his time.

One thing that can't be denied is that Frank loves the sport and takes good care of his fighters, and anyone who takes the time to speak to ourselves i respect.

Get well soon Frank, hope this doesn't affect you long term.

Everyone on here appreciates what Frank does for the sport, even if we disagree with him from time to time - we all appreciate him coming on here and putting his point of view across.

Horrible thing to happen to Frank and I hope his health is nothing to worry about.

Very appropriate thread. Get well soon Frank. Hope to see you back on Sky with your quick witted, if sometimes controvesial, comments - (I still laugh at the "Germans are boring"). I'm sure after a natural period of grief, mourning and reflexion, Darren would have wanted you to come back to do what you do best - promoting an entertaining evening to the public, and looking after your fighters.

What a terrible week for Frank.

I couldn't begin to imagine what it must be like for him at the moment, let alone Darren's family.

A very tragic and shocking scenario indeed unfolded for him.

Stay strong Frank.

christ, didn't realise Maloney had a heart attack! Christ, that's bad news.

Maloney is a boxing man through and through he's done it all in the sport. Let's hope he pulls through okay.

I know from personal experience how compassionate Frank is about boxers. (I wont cite examples).

I can only imagine what he may have gone through physically and emotionally...

On behalf of Rowland & Clark and our stable, we wish you a speedy recovery Frank, God Bless mate.

Truly shocked by the news on Darren Sutherland. Reading through this thread I was totally unaware of any of this very upsetting news.

My thoughts go to Darrens family and of course to Frank Maloney.

absolutely. it surely can be no coincidence that Haye went through the best run of his career with Maloney. obviously Haye has a mind of his own, and had a big say in how his career is handled. i am reminded of the Abdoul fight - Haye throwing about one punch a round. Sky cams cutaway from the tepid action, and showed Maloney ringside, a baffled look on his face. it was priceless. Fraink surely wouldn't have let Haye languish as he has done since he became a free agent.

Get well soon, FM. What a horrible few days it must have been for him. From reading his book, and also Lennox's book, it's obvious that he's battled back from some very hard times before. So for him to do what he does, he gets my respect and best wishes.
