My thoughts are definitely with Frank, it has been a stressful and traumatic time, a very sad time and all the best Frank in getting better.

I know Frank Maloney and Brian Peters dont get on at all but they are the only two promoters I have any respect for. They both live for their boxers and always put the money aspect second which is something that comes in small doses in promoting boxing.

Get well soon Frank and come back strong, im sure the first thing he will want to do is get back to work with his boxers, think Munroe has EBU defense coming up soon!

I can't imagine what he is going through to find one of your top prospects hanging in his apartment will take alot out of the toughest people.

Never been a fan of Frank Maloney and have criticized him for some of the things he has done from day one on this forum.

One thing I can't ever deny is his love for his boxers and his love for the sport. it shines through and it is commendable. My heart goes out to Frank, it must have been a frightening sight and obviously broke his heart. Frank is one tough bastard though and will come back stronger than ever.

It's one of the most shocking deaths I have ever heard about though. I really wish Sutherland had talked it out with someone.

I don't normally do this, but I'd like to send my best wishes to Frank Maloney.

He's a fantastic manager, and one of the most important men in British boxing. I'm sure the problems with his heart are, from his point of view, paling into insignificance compared to the emotional pain he's in.

I hope that just as the doctors can get his body up and running again, so time can heal the wounds this has no doubt opened.

I can't imagine what it must be like to find someone close to me dead.

Terrible time for Frank, and I think he deserves all the support in the world.

i know you would have got close to darren over the short that would have knowing him.

Frank Maloney has vowed to return to boxing as soon as possible after being hospitalised after finding Darren Sutherland hanged in his flat.

The promoter and manager was thought to have had a minor heart attack after watching his fighter John McDermott controversially lose an English heavyweight title fight to Tyson Fury, live on Sky Sports.

Maloney was seen furiously demanding justice for McDermott, who according to most ringsiders had clearly won the fight.

The stress of the evening's events, and the subsequent discovery of Sutherland, saw Maloney take a turn for the worse, but he is determined to fight McDermott's corner at the hearing into the fight outcome later this month.

"Doctors have told me that after some days of rest I will be fine and I cannot wait to return to work in the sport of boxing as soon as possible," he said.

"I had no idea the heart attack had happened at the fight. I did have some chest pains and felt a bit unwell but I just put it down to the stress and excitement of what was happening.

"I can guarantee I will be there at the headquarters of the British Boxing Board of Control on September 23 when they stage their hearing into what I believe was the total injustice of the McDermott result.

"Boxing is my life. I have had plenty of highs in the sport and plenty of lows as well. But nothing will ever compare to the shock and sorrow of finding Darren in his flat on Monday night."

I contacted a mate of Frank's to wish him well from all of us. This is his response to you all that I'd thought I'd share. As you probably have read online, Frank had the heart attack on Friday:

I have just spoken to Frank and he read all your messages last night. He said to say cheers to all at boxrec for their sympathy to Darren and wishing him well. He should be out of hospital at the end of the week and will post something up personally. There is a chance he will return home tomorrow, but more likely Friday or Saturday.

He had an op at a London hospital yesterday (Tues), but has been transferred back to Farnborough and is on the mend. He was genuinely surprised at all the messages.

He shouldn't be surprised, the only reason people ever argue with him is because they care about the sport. Everyone knows that Frank does a lot for British boxing and we all feel for him at this horrible time.

He should not be surprised at all, he slags us off and we sometimes slag him off and its all in good fun, we know he is a passionate good guy.

He once called us 'trainspotters' but now he posts on Boxrec and facebook!

'Boxing Anoraks' was another term he used when referring to us.

Do you know fella, you just took the words right out of my mouth. It's a shame, but some of the time it takes events like this to make us realise what's really important in the scheme of things.

Yes, even Frank's enemies would have to concede that he's one of the most persistent and pervading men in boxing, and a genuine servant of the sport. He may call us anoraks, and he may like any other promoter get flak on here from time to time - but I'm sure everyone on her recognises his contribution to the sport.

Even though you are a prize knob sometimes, you are correct that we are all one big family on here, despite the jibes!

We are the Boxrec family.

Darren was also part of it for a time and that makes it seem all the more strange and sad he is no longer here - Darren had a lot of support on the boards.
