Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
I emailed Sauerlands PR person and got this back:
Hi Craig, the venue will be announced shortly...stay tuned.
Best wishes,
Johannes
So they are saying nothing yet

Exactly what I thought! I know its still a while away bit cheap flights and hotels etc. will have all gone by the time the venue is announced.MacTavish wrote:Hi Craig, the venue will be announced shortly...stay tuned.

Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
It's bloody annoying to be honest. Thing is, as Haye is the challenger I don't think this is his doing. Sauerland are obviously organising it and are therefore to blame imo
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
Could be bollocks I know but its just what a mate of mine has told me is being discussed at present, he has told me things in the past which are true but to be fair also a fair amount of crap as well.MacTavish wrote:Vienna??? What dispatches???
He is based in Europe and keeps his ear to the ground overthere and has made a few mates in the Euro boxing scene from shows he goes to etc, he said he was told Germany is obviously being looked at but they quite liked the idea of Vienna.
Don't shoot the messenger but for what its worth, there it is.
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
I've heard Vienna too.
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
If it is in Vienna, we should try and do a Boxrec group booking for the Opera.

You'll need plenty of money for Vienna.

Yeah, it is a stunning city and one well worth a visit but it's expensive for a boxing jolly.Old bones Ian wrote:You'll need plenty of money for Vienna.

Return flights from London are about £60, so I suppose its the hotels, booze and grub thats pricey?

Lack of ticket sales? Is Valuev going to shift enough tickets, not too sure about his popularity.DavidPayne wrote:Any views on the most likely reason this fight will get cancelled/postponed?

Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
Wouldnt say the stadium was Tiny, must have held about 5000 I'd have thought, maybe more. I was at that one.whatashambles wrote:For JMM it was originally meant to be September, then pushed back to November in Paris. Tickets went on sale 2 weeks before at the tiny Stade Marcel Cerdan and the deal for Setanta to show the fight was agreed on the Friday before the fight.Dirk Kelly wrote:Haye is terrible for this. Wasn't it a similar situation with Jean Mac with the fight venue only being announced a a month or so before?
Then the 241 offer on the Barrett fight with the people who had bought early getting nought!
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
Have they definitely ruled out the UK as a venue then? I think if the tickets were reasonably priced and the fight was properly promoted the O2 Arena could sell out for this one.
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
Can't see Valuev giving up "home" advantage. Has he ever had a title fight in the States? He seems to like Germany (as do a lot of the East European boxers).

Definitely gonna be mainland Europe by the sounds of it. I'm just desperate to hear the official announcement so that I can start making travel plans before it's too late. I asked Dave Coldwell recently if he knew the venue, but he basically said it hasn't been sorted yet. They need to get a bloody move on!
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
Anyone ever been to a fight in europe - do you sometimes schedule in them in your holidays? I went to Skelton Vs Chagaev in Dusseldorf, was quality apart from the fact that the Burgwhatcher Costello is in th emiddle of bloody nowhere. And Dusseldorf Wheze was nowehere near Dusseldorf!

Yeah, I went to Wlad's fight in Gelsenkirchen in June (the one where Haye pulled out injured). The Arena was top notch, and they certainly put on a good show. Shame the fight was so dull.
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
I went to the ballet with my girlfriend in June. To the Bolshoi in Moscow. To be honest, I was apprehensive to say the least -- as I'm sure every single one of you would be -- but bugger me if I didn't really enjoy it. There, I said it.MacTavish wrote:If it is in Vienna, we should try and do a Boxrec group booking for the Opera.
I wonder if there's any chance of this getting put in in Russia, which is, after all, where Valuev is from. I think he lives in St Pete's, doesn't he?
Let me tell you, that's a beautiful city.
Meantime, I hope it just gets on. David really, really needs this.
Are they going to call the promotion David vs Goliath?
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
Sky text in their boxing schedules has it for Austria TBC.

It's certainly called that on the Hayemaker website :-)Carbo wrote:I went to the ballet with my girlfriend in June. To the Bolshoi in Moscow. Vienna is a bugger for me to get to.
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
