Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
I'm on Mayweather looking like he's never been away from the ring and giving Marquez a bit of a hiding, size will matter in this one and with JMM now 36 I just can't see him lasting the full 12.
I got 5/2 on Floyld winning by stoppage, I'm more than happy with that price.

Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
the world will see mayweather lose but it wont be against marquez.
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
i can't see a single sane person picking Marquez - too small and too slow. It will resemble a mismatch as Floyd wins every round with a late stoppage not out of the question.

Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
mayweather on pts.
don't see this being an easy fight though.
marquez has just the sort of patience and punching accuracy to give floyd trouble.
he doesn't give too much away like hatton or fade down the stretch like oscar.
but i see floyd's speed and sharpness just taking it over the distance.

Good price 5/2 think i will have some of that. Would like Marquez to pull it off.

he certainly isn't slow.
he's a fast combo puncher.
check out that one two he landed on pac at the end of the 2nd rd in the rematch.
mayweather is greased lightning though.

Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
I really want to see Mayweather / Pacquiao but I am going for Marquez to stop Mayweather with body shots
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
Well, he doesn't fade down the stretch when he's not carrying a stone more weight than normal.hitman_hatton1 wrote:mayweather on pts.

MAyweather by UD, or possibly a stoppage.
I would love it, luv it, if I was wrong, though.

Marquez is outgunned in every department. height, reach, power, chin, speed, footspeed, jab, strength, age, lack of wear and tear fights.
Mayweather early KO.
Mayweather early KO.
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
Can't see Marquez pulling this one off, but I gotta admit I'd like to see him win it. That said, I think he'll get hurt early and be unable to drag himself back into the fight. Probably a mid- late rounds KO for Mayweather.

I could see that happening also, Diaz was catching JMM easily early on and Mayweather is going to hit him a lot harder.

Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
I think the time off has made people forget how good Mayweather actually is.
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
I hope Betfair have an in-running market as I expect PBF to be outscored but get the verdict.
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
Err... you've just repeated what I was saying. I didn't say Marquez is slow, I said he's too slow - as in he's too slow to compete with Mayweather, who you yourself have admitted is grease lightening.hitman_hatton1 wrote:too slow.Deserter wrote:i can't see a single sane person picking Marquez - too small and too slow. If Diaz can give Marquez trouble Mayweather is going to give him absolute fits with his speed and his angles.
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
I hear what your saying, but Diaz needed to come out on fire. PBF has two years out, and hasn't faced a sharp boxer (which JMM is) for years.
I cant wait though

Exactly. I respect JMM. I really do. But as Jim Watt would say, "This job to too big for him". Full credit to Sky for giving us, katsidis, John vs Juarez and Mayweather for free.Deserter wrote: If Diaz can give Marquez trouble Mayweather is going to give him absolute fits with his speed and his angles.
Just to play devils advocate for a second, how CAN marquez win the fight? Pressure or outboxing Floyd with in and out raiding tactics?

When the fight was announced I said that I wasn't sure I wanted to see my favourite fighter get a hiding, & I'm still not sure I want to see it now.

Who's he losing to then?harrygreb wrote:the world will see mayweather lose but it wont be against marquez.
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
Late KO or wide decision for Mayweather, imo. I really hope I'm wrong.
I'm worried that this fight will take a lot out of Marquez, and he will be lucky to come away from it still a top class fighter. :(

Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
Mayweather KO, maybe inside 4 rounds
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
Floyd gives Marquez the beating of his life and KO's him in the 9th round.
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
There are alot of different scenario's about how this fight is going to map out.
This Fight has certain similarities between Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard fight 1 especially a Lightweight champion coming up to fight the Welterweight Champion(ex in ths case)
Marquez is a slow starter and will probably lose most of the first 6 rds and seem out of the fight but from than on i can see him really starting to close down the space between him and Mayweather and starting to really dominate the exchanges.
Also the 2 year layoff will start effecting Mayweather from around the 7th rd onwards too, no matter how well he's trained for this fight, there is still nothing that can replace actual ring activity and sparring dosent come close to that.
Marquez is also going to bring more to the table than some of Mayweather's recent opponents like Hatton, Delahoya, Baldomir and Judah so that jump in level of skill, accurracy and ring generalship may well take Mayweather by surprise and throw him off his game. Although Marquez really has to concentrate for all 12 rd's, especially not over committing himself to punches and being wide open for left hooks.
I can see this being a close UD to Mayweather(7-5 in Rds) or even a controversial Split decision victory for him. Its really going hinge on how many RD's he can get in the bag before Marquez starts to find his rhythm and range and close the space between them.
If the Fight is level after 8 RD's than i can only see Marquez winning this fight as i think he's going to dominate and come on strong between Rd's 9 to 12.

i read JMM was 36 today, i thought it was a mistake. Fair play to him. I was predicting a Mayweather points win, mostly retreating from the agressive but less gifted Mexican (he is a Mexican right?)...for the duration.
At 5/2 for a TKO though it's got to be worth a few bob.
This said however, Marquez strikes me as a man in shape. Age will be no hinderance to him whatsoever IMO.
I'm going Mayweather Points......and not by landslide either.
Re: Mayweather-Marquez Final Picks
My thinking was in line with what's being said here before I watched those crafty 24/7s'. A Mayweather win.
They never fail to plant doubts in my head.
Pacquiao did rather well against these bigger boys, better than he did against some of the cream of the lower divisions, it's got me wondering if the gap in talent between 135 and 147 is actually bigger than perceived for someone with JMM's skillset. I dont think the gulf in speed is going to be all that great and talk about a smart fighter.
I hear what's being said, it'll likely be Mayweather who edges JMM in most attributes, enough so to beat him at any rate, but I have a feeling this is going to be very hard work for Floyd, might even be disasterous.
