Frank Maloney is 80 percent certain that the fight will happen in the new year, if Harrison gets past Kebede,as much as i would like to see this fight i just cant see it happening,surly Chi can get a bigger payday somewhere else and he must see Scott as a serious threat,saying that am sure Harrison would take a major paycut just to make the fight happen
I think the fight can happen, Chi is prepared to travel and work with different promoters. I don't think Chi is an in demand fighter in terms of US box office appeal yet, and requires a few meaningful fights to get to that level.
He is pretty much in the same boat as Harrison, the Yanks remember Chi primarily for doing well against "a jaded and unmotivated Morales" and Brodie, whilst respected in America, isn't considered a threat to the bigger names.
Marquez, Pacquiao, Barerra (should he move back down after his fight with Morales) are at a higher level in terms of respect than Chi and Harrison (who stand pretty much above the rest of the devision). The only way either Harrison or Chi is to get the match with the big three is by fighting a each other.

I hope it will. Scotts one fo the few top level fighters a round these days, who it seems is willing to fight anyone. Whether Maloney would let this fight go outside Glasgow however is very doubtful indeed, even if he did offer Chi the majority of the purse. He's been going on for ages now about getting Scott a top name for a big outdoor summer show at Hampden. I wonder if this is what he has in mind. One thing is for sure is tht Scott now has to start upping the anti, before he becomes a tartan version of Ricky Hatton. ie fighting a lot of highish level fighters and defending a mickey mouse title indefinitaly.
I know hes fough a few biggish names in Medina, Chacon and McCulloch but of he's to be taken seriously both here and abroad hes got to go for some genuine big names.

I agree Neil, I wanted Scott to have a longer break from the hard challenges than he did after Medina. Now though, Abelyan didn't prove to be the hard fight we were expecting (know fault of Harrison or his team), and now Kebede is an unkowner who might not be much cop (no-one knows).
I wanted to see Harrison is big tests on paper, he is blessed to be in a devision in which there are lot of big tests who would be eager to fight for a version of the world title (a top ten with a lot of depth to it). He also has two very good challengers ready and available from these shores (Cook and Brodie).
No excuses after Kebede (expect dodgy mandatories which we will have to learn to accept).

I think it can be made. Chi has already travelled to fight Brodie, and those fights I don't think were seen in the US.
I hope it does happen, it will be a hell of a fight, i seem to recall Chi looking a little shaky in his last fight too, it's winnable for Scott, he's bigger and stronger than Brodie, but he'll certainly be in a fight.

Trust me Asian fighters always have a fanbase in this country, when a Korean or Japanese etc sportsman appears then loads of his fellow countrymen or women seem to appear from nowhere 
Wolves have brought a Korean striker called Seoul and every matchday there are hordes of Koreans wandering around in Wolves tops waiving flags! I think it is mostly the students.
Back to the topic and i think Harrison-Chi can and will happen, for once i have faith in Uncle Frank...can't pick a winner though but it sure as hell would be a war

Yes, he had alot of supporters in that fight. James I was impressed with Chi's last fight. That opponent he had was a damn underated fighter who could bang - he hurt Chi badly but Chi showed amazing powers of recovery.Cannibal wrote:I think Chi has a mini fan base in the UK now after the 2 Brodie fights.

Great fight if it happens - these two will just go after each other. You gotta like Chi's bravery and toughness - he really came back from the brink in his last fight.
I think it could happen because with both of them unlikely to get early fights against the top three (MAB, Pacman and JMM) a match up is probably the biggest fight out there for both of them.
The problem is that it would certainly have to be in Scotland for SN to proceed and I think Chi has quite good backing in Korea so can probably earn a fair bit defending his title there. Remember the Brodie fight was down to a purse bid issue - Chi's people desparately tried to get the fight in Korea.
So FW will need to stick a large amount on the table and give Chi more than Harrison for the fight to take place. I'd put the chances of that as lower than the 80% that Maloney said.
