The capacity is 4000, I just checked, though it did seem smaller. It was too small a venue for such a fight IMO, especially with M'baye on the undercard.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Wouldnt say the stadium was Tiny, must have held about 5000 I'd have thought, maybe more. I was at that one.whatashambles wrote:For JMM it was originally meant to be September, then pushed back to November in Paris. Tickets went on sale 2 weeks before at the tiny Stade Marcel Cerdan and the deal for Setanta to show the fight was agreed on the Friday before the fight.Dirk Kelly wrote:Haye is terrible for this. Wasn't it a similar situation with Jean Mac with the fight venue only being announced a a month or so before?
Then the 241 offer on the Barrett fight with the people who had bought early getting nought!

Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
How easy is it to get from Bratislava to Vienna?
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
Easy on the train / bus - they are different countries but very close (more close than Vienna is to lots of Austrian cities).
I might base myself out in Bratislva and take advantage of the cheaper hotels/food/beer

Anyone know for sure yet that it's definitely gonna be Vienna?
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
If I drive down to Alicante( 2odd hours) I can get a return flight to Bratislava for under 65 euros, but would have to wait untill Mon night to get back.
Went to Bratislava once on a football jolly, typical old Easter European city, ok but nothing to get excited about. I couldn't remember the name of the hotel either, thought it was the Hotel Artemedia(thats the football team!), drove round for an hour in a cab looking for it at 4am, cost me 12 quid!!
Saying that i'd quite fancy having a look at Vienna as i'm there

Bratislva is meant to be full of stag dos these days so if you wan to avoid that then Vienna might be the better option. Saying all this, you just know that the fight will be in Germany instead! I just hope it's in a sensible location that's easy to get to - the Schlake 04 place looked like a right planes, trains and automobiles job...

Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
Got any links mate? Do they do single rooms or is that in a dorm full of pissed up Aussies?
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
What an odd decision if they decide on Vienna! This is a fight for the WBA Heavyweight title and they're considering having it in Vienna where neither of the boxers come from and which doesn't have any great arenas to hold it in!! Very strange.

It actually wasn't too bad, but that was largely thanks to the efficient German public transport system.MacTavish wrote:Bratislva is meant to be full of stag dos these days so if you wan to avoid that then Vienna might be the better option. Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
He'll calm Haye down? Woah, that sounds brutal."He can say what he wants. I look forward to fighting in Nuremburg again," Valuev, the 7ft Russian champion, said. "I will continue where I left it against Liakhovich. Haye is a strong challenger, but he will not beat me. I will defend my title and calm Haye down."
:P
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
How long before someone breaks the taste barrier with the headline "Nurenburg Trial for Haye"?

Jesus, why there?! That's gonna be a pain in the arse to get to. Anyone got any transport ideas?RLewis wrote:It's Nuremberg. http://timesonline.typepad.com/boxing/
Re: Any news on Haye/Valuev venue?
I would say Eurostar from London to Brussels, and then there'll either be a direct train to Nurenburg, but if not, the Thalys train to Koln and then from there to Nurenburg.

Manchester or Stansted for a direct flight, about £36 each way, not a bad deal.
Is the fight on the 7th November?

Yeah, 7th. No direct flights from Stansted on that day. Can get the 36 quid price coming back on the Sunday, but going out on the Friday is 180 quid!Old bones Ian wrote:Manchester or Stansted for a direct flight, about £36 each way, not a bad deal. Is the fight on the 7th November?
