Oscar De La Hoya Vs Mavin Hagler
Who would win this in their primes
I see Oscar out boxing Marvin and Marvin working the body until
Oscar drops

Re: Oscar De La Hoya Vs Mavin Hagler
I can see him trying to outbox Hagler but eventually getting caught. Hagler is no Mayorga or Vargas. There is nothing Oscar can hit him with that will drop him and Oscar is very ineffective at middleweight.

I hope this is pound-for-pound. If it is, a De La Hoya success over twelve rounds is a plausible scenario. Not over fifteen, though, & God help us if it's a straight match at Middleweight.lightweight1 wrote:Who would win this in their primes

No chance in hell, Hagler would have systematically dismantled Oscar, I doubt Oscar could even have outboxed him, Hagler was a hell of a boxer in his prime.lightweight1 wrote:Who would win this in their primes

Oscar loses to Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, Duran, and Benitez (if Benitez doesn't get robbed).

Sorry Goodnight but you must be dreaming or be a huge DLH fan. There is now way that DLH could compete vs Hagler. Hagler would make it a war and DLH’s pretty face will be no more. Hagler by brutal KO.Goodnight, Irene wrote:I hope this is pound-for-pound. If it is, a De La Hoya success over twelve rounds is a plausible scenario. BTW how did you score:
DLH vs Whitaker – For me Whitaker by close decision
DLH vs Sturm – Sturm by clear decision
DLH vs Quartey - even

Re: Oscar De La Hoya Vs Mavin Hagler
Hagler would hunt De La Hoya down & stop him! Hagler was a fine boxer in his own right, so its not as if he was just a brawler going up against a competent boxer in De La Hoya! Marvin could do it all!
Hagler would be too tenacious, strong for Oscar. Too much pressue for De La Hoya to handle!

You do know I was saying De La Hoya might win a twelve-rounder if it's a hypothetical pound-for-pound match, right? I just want to be clear you & I both know that's what I'm saying. In a straight fight at Middleweight, it's Hagler via murder. It would be obscene, what Hagler would do to De La Hoya in the clinch. He'd decimate him. Even pound-for-pound, I don't think De La Hoya could beat Hagler over fifteen. No, Sir. Twelve, perhaps, yes.
My results & margins for those bouts...
De La Hoya-Whitaker (De La Hoya, one point)
De La Hoya-Sturm (Sturm, two points)
De La Hoya-Quartey (Even)
