I think Mosley would give him problems, but nothing more. I would tip Mayweather to win comfotably on points. Mosley is not hard to hit., and Mayweather would work his body over and slow him right down.Mayweathers footwork would win the fight, because as good as mosley is, his footwork is not the best or fastest.

Right, it's time for Floyd to take another gamble and get in there with Mosley.

De la Hoya pushed him close and he hasn't shown much interest in taking on another good big 'un since.

The more I consider Floyd's reluctance to mix it up with the top welters, the more I find myself arriving at the same conclusion: he's underpowered for the division.

Brilliant boxer though he is, he simply does not have the punching power to deter the elite 147 pounders, and he cannot beat a guy like Mosley with defence alone. Fighters like Baldomir, as slow as molasses and lacking pop, he could run from all night, but Mosley - fast, hard-hitting and with a great chin - might just walk through him and inflict some damage.

PBF offered Mosley a fight about 4 years ago but Mosley wanted 2 more warm ups.

I think Mosley gives PBF the most issues in the Ring and has the style to beat him.

Fast - Powerful - Skilful and a great chin and good engine.

50/50 fight!

They both beat Pacman with ease.

A fight against the winner of Pacquiao vs Cotto is much more important than a fight against Mosley.

mosley has always been the name we bring up in talking about floyds undefined career. i find it hard to believe that shane could beat him now but would have broken him up 6 or 7 years ago.

If Pacquioa loses to Cotto I think the Mosley fight will happen, I'm pretty sure Mayweather would prefer to get in there with Mosley rather than Cotto.

I love this fight !

This is a better fight than Mayweather/Pacman. Styles make fights and I would love to see what happens when Floyd Mayweather is in with someone his own size AND with comparable speed. Mosley may be a bit past his best but it is ONLY a bit !

For my money, Mayweather won't take it (would love to be proved wrong), he is turning into even more of a bully than he was and won't be taking any chances anytime soon. Paying for 2 lbs on the scales last week was low (especially when Marquez was ALREADY giving away so much). You don't miss the weight by 2 lbs, when your 2 lbs over, you had no intention in the first place.

I agree, I don't think he would prefer Cotto over Mosley.

Except for the fact that when Floyd was calling Mosley out it was at a time when Mosley was trying to rebuild his career after a couple of losses.

Boxingtalk are reporting that Mosley will get three fights on HBO next year and Mayweather will be the third one. I hope that's not the case. If true it looks like a case of everyone involved trying to make us wait so that they can build the fight up and milk it for all it's worth. More bulls**t politricks.

Precisely, Mosley was on a downward slope of his career, and Floyd saw him as an easy target.

Now that Mosley has looked good, no doubt Floyd will hope for a bit more inactivity and age to catch up with Shane.

Thing is, Shane could well lose during that time, I'd like to see the fight happen right now, but I suspect it won't happen.

To be fair to floyd he was calling mosley out when he was a super featherweight.

Yes but back then, Floyd was nobody and Mosley was a big star - he was coming off that stunning victory over Oscar.

So let me get the straight James.

Floyd calls out Mosley when he was a Super Feather - he was out of order cause he was nobody.

Floyd offers Mosley a fight four years ago - he was only doing it cause Mosley was "shot".

Floyd fights Mosley in 2010 - He's only doing it to run away from Cotto.

The term "cannot win" springs to mind.

We've already had 3 threads with 4 different fighters (well 5 if you count Pacquiao and Cotto as 2) as "the one" he should be gunning for. Williams, Pavlik, Pacquiao, Cotto and Mosley... which one is it guys.

ALOT easier in the fab fours day to become the man.

He called him out before mosley jumped up to welterweight to fight de la hoya and I would'nt say Mayweatehr was anobody. He was famous before he even went to the olympics.

I remember him getting laughed about when calling out a host of names after his win over Manfredy way back at the start of his championship. People were saying its as rediculous as RJJ's heavyweight ambition. One of those fighters he called out were Oscar.

Then when he fights Oscar. When the fight actually went from a fictional fight from a deluded Mayweather, to a reality... guess what.... the knives were out again. This time, Mayweather could have fought better guys than the part time past it DLH. Ignore the fact that it was at a weight better suiting DLH than even when the fight was first mentioned, ignore that DLH had just put on one of his finest performances. No, the arguement then is there were better guys at 154 at the time and Mayweather timed it right.

Agreed

And Mosley V Floyd wont happen - because Floyd dont want it - he is a risk free money fighter - back in the ring to pay off backdated IRS taxes.

Floyd should fight the winner of Pacquaio Cotto, and I am hoping it is Cotto. That then takes Mosely out of the equation. A Mayweather Mosely fight would be a bore fest anyways, with Floyd Jr running the whole night and pot shotting. I see a Cotto fight as more exciting as Mayweather will be able to land more constantly and effectively.

Some will have Mosley above the Cotto/Pacquiao winner (whoever it is) given the closeness of his fight with Cotto and subsequent performances against Margarito.

Anyway, if FM fights Cotto he should have fought Mosley, if he fights Mosley he should have fought Cotto.

Floyd has already suggested - in an interview with Brian Kenney on ESPN (http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4187100) - that a fight with Pac would be difficult to make on account of issues with Bob Arum. As they have the same promoter, I'm sure the same would apply to a Cotto match. So, if a proposed showdown with Mosley won't happen until the end of 2010 and Pac and Cotto are non-starters, who the feck is Money May going to fight next?
