Re: Haye Valuev - who wins
Not particularly great odds to be honest. If you say that Haye has a 40% chance of winning, and you reckon let's say that 30% of that is by KO, then that's about in line with the real chances of Haye winning in 7-9 more or less.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:9/1 rounds 7-9

Re: Haye Valuev - who wins
For me it all comes down to Haye's stamina and how widely he can outpoint Valuev. I just can't see him knocking out such a big man who has never been remotely hurt in a fight. And if the fight is close of the scorecards I can't see him getting the decision in Germany. He's gonna need to totally outbox Valuev in my opinion, which is something that he has more than enough ability to do.

Re: Haye Valuev - who wins
That's the big question in my mind. Haye needs to get his full weight behind the straight right to have an effect. Because he's naturally quite thin a lot of his power comes from speed. Maybe Valuev will be surprisingly vulnerable to fast hands?sy86 wrote:having to punch a foot into the air isnt going to help.
60/40 to Valuev feels about right to me, James. Haye will have to take risks in order to win, whereas Valuev can play it safe.

If he does, he's gonna brick it in the intros. That's it in ""the proverbial nutshell.""

Valuev with embarrasing ease
If Haye had proven his power at HW by actually fighting I'd be more inclined to back him, but I could see him landing and Valuev thinking 'Is that what the fuss is all about' and then proceed to ground him into the ring like those warner brother cartoons
Valuev in 7 or less

Re: Haye Valuev - who wins
Valuev by knock-out looks the value bet at 11/2, although 15/8 for the big man outright is not bad either. Hope Haye wins it though.jamesmcdonnell wrote:You should always price the fight up in your own mind, before you start checking the odds.J-C wrote:http://www.oddschecker.com/boxing/nikol ... up-bettingTommy Gunn13 wrote:Are there any odds on the fight yet

I'd give Haye about 40% chance of winning this one, there are a lot of factors racked up against him, height, reach, weight, experience, and the fact that Haye doesn't really hold a shot too well.
I give Haye a chance because he is the better boxer, and bigger puncher, but I think the physical disadvantages may be insurmountable.
I hope I'm wrong because I'd like to see Haye win.

Re: Haye Valuev - who wins
Like someone said before I feel the issue for the outcome is Haye's stamina. Although Haye and Booth think they can KO Valuev I doubt it will actually happen.
And if in the late rounds Valuev is still strong it could get extremely hairy for David.
Best of luck to him

Re: Haye Valuev - who wins
Haye wins on points by way of superior speed and skills, but those who think Haye can stop him are deluded, Earnie Shavers couldn't stop this beast, his neck is just too huge! I doubt he's ever been or ever will be hurt in his life.
Re: Haye Valuev - who wins
Haye is clearly the better fighter but I wonder how much he can do against a man of Valuev's size given his own weaknesses. I lean towards Valuev but hope I'm wrong. The picture of them stood together in BN is comical.

Same hunch as I have.Happy Slapper wrote:I have a funny feeling Haye is gonna shock the world and KO Valuev early (rounds 1 - 4).
Don't ask me why and I'm not a Haye nuthugger, just a hunch I have.
Re: Haye Valuev - who wins
Tyson used to talk about 'punching up' as a short heavyweight actually increasing his power. However, there wasn't many dudes over 6'6" in Tyson's era, let alone someone 7' tall. Looking at the press photos of Haye against Wlad as well as Valuev, I don't think he's as tall as he says he is. He looks about 6 foot.
By the way (and I guess other people must've thought about this approach with Valuev seeing as he's like 50-1) I think Haye's pretty much going to abandon trying to knock him out by headhunting and will have been training for body shots. Yeah, he went headhunting against Barrett but he threw some good body shots at Maccarinelli before he closed that show early. That's how I'd fight someone so huge anyway: get inside and offload big hooks into that fleshy torso (Valuev's body looks very soft) then get back out again. I think there's a lot of dis-information in what Haye says- he's talking about punching up but I don't think he'll do that. When he talked about Barrett's jabs being like a cruiserweight's right, I think that was playing on the fact he's seen as chinny and making himself seem more beatable to other heavyweights. I think it would be a pretty stupid thing to come out and say if he really meant it. I think him and Booth are probably smarter than that.
Valuev mainly seems to jab. I've seen a clip of Valuev throwing what should have been a huge right (he really loaded up) right into Monte Barrett's (that's who it looks like anyway) boat and Barrett lost that fight when his corner threw the towel in, so Haye hits a lot harder than Valuev. Has anbody watched the Hong Man Choi knockout from K1? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxMqu6RfSzM he gets KO'd by a Hayemaker punch from a much smaller guy and he is BIGGER (If you can imagine that) than Valuev. I really hope Haye pulls something like that out of the bag.
The one Valuev fight I watched live was his rematch with Ruiz which was on Nuts TV and for sure at one point Ruiz hurt Valuev and would've knocked him down if it wasn't for the ropes holding him up, and Ruiz hasn't got a KO record anywhere near as good as Haye's.
Sorry, the question. Who wins? Basing my prediction on blind patriotism: Haye by brutal KO rd 5
Based on boxing knowlege? If the ref doesn't break the clinches early, allowing Valuev to lean all that weight on Haye, and Haye doesn't win by a wide margin, then Valuev might wear him down and take him out in the late rounds, or the judges will give it to big Nik.
But I do have faith in Haye and I think he will widely outpoint Valuev and hurt him. So, I'm saying 60/40 in Haye's favor. I really hope he wins though, and in good fashion.

Haye to win, not sure whether its on points or a stoppage, regardless of what people may say.

Re: Haye Valuev - who wins
Valuev in the first 3 rounds. Hope to be badly wrong but if I'm not, very nice payday for me.
I actually think Haye is capable of hurting Valuev - what I don't think is that he'll be able to land the right shots. Haye likes the straight right hand (Gurov) and a sort of looping right hand that he throws from quite far out (shot that was the beginning of the end for Macc). The straight right will be a nightmare to land against someone like Valuev, he's just too big and too far away. The looping right hand relies on Haye reaching in and with the size difference he will be off balance and open to anything coming back. Haye can't rely on a single shot doing the job, even if he lands a corker. (see Fragomeni round 5). Therefore he will have to be continually landing with his big right hands on this beast, and the longer it goes on, the more chance he gets his own clock cleaned.
I'm pretty sure Haye won't win this - barring some freak erosion of punch resistance on the part of Valuev which seems unlikely.

valev has been wobbled by a str8 right by a non puncher compared to haye in the form on berginon (probably spelt wrong)Riddick Blowe wrote:Valuev in the first 3 rounds. Hope to be badly wrong but if I'm not, very nice payday for me.
