Why such the big deal and distraction from the thread topic ? This is Frank's thread. If someone wants to tell me what it say's, great, if not, i'm not going to be up all night worrying myself to sleep.
A big thank you to you all

I don't wanna give them a hit on their website, my choice.

I didn't realise no-one had posted it yet. It's no trouble for me.Finch wrote:I don't wanna give them a hit on their website, my choice.

THE boxing world was rocked this week after Olympic medallist Darren Sutherland was found hanged at his home on Monday.
He had a great future ahead of him and what happened was simply tragic.
It is sad to imagine the mental pain he must have been in to have ended his life at 27. My condolences go out to his family.
Darren was found by his manager Frank Maloney, who was rushed to hospital with shock.
It was later discovered he had suffered a heart attack after last Friday's English heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and John McDermott.
But I'm not surprised after the way he ranted on. The outcome of the fight was controversial, with Fury winning by a ridiculously wide margin of 98-92 in the eyes of ref Terry O'Connor.
Like most people who saw the fight, I had McDermott well ahead.
John deserved to win and, although it won't be much of a consolation, the Board of Control is bound to order a rematch.
But some of Maloney's comments were over the top. He claimed it was the worst decision since Lennox Lewis drew with Evander Holyfield which, incidentally, could have gone either way.
There have been plenty of controversial fights since then, some of which Maloney has benefited from, some not.
Questionable decisions are the nature of most sports and, unfortunately, you have to get used to it.
Maloney was concerned with the effect the result had had on him, asking 'Why do I want to be in this business?'
But, on that result, why would McDermott want to be in boxing?
Maloney wanted action taken against O'Connor, demanded the fight be declared a no-contest and asked for a rematch.
It is ridiculous to ask for a no-contest ruling as it would create chaos and, as for Maloney getting the rematch, why should he and on what terms?
I'm also against scores being publicly displayed after every round. There was crowd trouble at the end of Friday's fight.
But can you imagine what would have happened if they had found out halfway through that McDermott was losing?
There would have been a riot there and then.
As far as Fury is concerned, he's a big lad with a decent jab but lacked power against McDermott.
I'd put him in with Derek Chisora in a heartbeat.
Re: A big thank you to you all
Thanks.
Whilst i'm glad Maloney has some sort of justice and an admission of error, allegedly has a point, if a decision got overturned, no matter how ridiculous it sets a dangerous precedent for future fights that go the distance.

Heard Frank on 5 live tonight, I found it quite moving and I hope the parents of the lad can find some peace with time.

WTF? moronic.

Re: A big thank you to you all
The Late Late Show is on RTE 1 tonight at 9.35. This Sky Channel 161. As far as I know this should be available to UK Sky customers....hitman_hatton1 wrote:is the late late show available on any of the sky channels?

*Failing that it will be on the RTE iplayer (although a limited number of programmes are available to those outside Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland) http://www.rte.ie/player/geoaccess.html

Re: A big thank you to you all
Its definitely going to be interesting to hear what the parents say tonight. I hope they are not bitter towards Frank or anyone in the team but I don't know the details. Either way, it's a terrible ordeal for them and obviously they have something to say to the Irish public later tonight.
