Although, I am sure this fight was just a regular eliminator rather than a final eliminator.

Can't the board arrange a tournament to decide a worthy first mandatory challenger instead?Counter-puncher wrote:i'd rather it took too long, but resul;ted in a fight that is worthy of probably the most prestigious belt in british boxing
i think Murray would pose Barker some very interesting questions myself, he is not unskilled and seems to me to have a much bigger frame than BarkerHorse wrote:
I don't think the board should slow down Barker's career advancement to try to get him a decent challenger for the vacant belt, when he will probably just beat them easily anyway.
I dont think Murray is ready for Barker at the moment I would like to see him fight the winner of McDermott vs Butler for the English and then go for the British however it's against he is a good boxer but not at the level of Macklin and Barker as yet but he is heading in the right directionCounter-puncher wrote:i think Murray would pose Barker some very interesting questions myself, he is not unskilled and seems to me to have a much bigger frame than BarkerHorse wrote:

Maybe Murray would give Barker some problems.Counter-puncher wrote:i think Murray would pose Barker some very interesting questions myself, he is not unskilled and seems to me to have a much bigger frame than Barker
yes, but horse seems to think that would all take too longalexpaterson wrote:I dont think Murray is ready for Barker at the moment I would like to see him fight the winner of McDermott vs Butler for the English and then go for the British however it's against he is a good boxer but not at the level of Macklin and Barker as yet but he is heading in the right directionCounter-puncher wrote:i think Murray would pose Barker some very interesting questions myself, he is not unskilled and seems to me to have a much bigger frame than BarkerHorse wrote:

What is Barker meant to do whilst all of these eliminators are going on?Counter-puncher wrote:yes, but horse seems to think that would all take too long

I wouldn't blame him if he went down the WBU route.
What is your point?Coco wrote:It is down to Barker's promoters to provide him with opportunities
You asked what is Barker supposed to do while all these eliminators are going on? I think his promoter should keep him busy in championship class, thats his jobHorse wrote:What is your point?Coco wrote:It is down to Barker's promoters to provide him with opportunities
Barker needs the exposure that he would get for being the British and Commonwealth champion. Making Barker defend his Commonwealth belt 2 or 3 times while he waits for a British title fight is just holding him back for no reason.Coco wrote:You asked what is Barker supposed to do while all these eliminators are going on? Other promoters seem to be able to influence the board and other organisations to get their fighters these shots, it's a shame Barkers doesn't get these opportunitiesHorse wrote:Barker needs the exposure that he would get for being the British and Commonwealth champion. The BBBofC should not be looking to impede the progress of Britain's best fighters. Not allowing Barker to fight for the British title, while a load of eliminators go on, will hold him back.
Who said he was anything special?avidlemon wrote:I think that although Renda appeared to do well again Paul Smith, he was shown to be totally out of his depth when Paul decided to turn the fight on his head. Renda had a good night, and Smith a bad one. Let's not Kid ourselves that Renda is anything special, a good english level fighter, and that's it
I certainly fornicating didn't. I was refering to a previous poster who said something along the lines of renda being able to box a bit. I would say that being able to box a bit is a pre-requisite of stepping into a boxing ring, rather than devaluing boxing by suggesting that we should all be impressed by someone who BOXES for a living, having some boxing ability. I probably shouldn't have used to word special though, so maybe i brought it on myself a bit.Horse wrote:Who said he was anything special?avidlemon wrote:I think that although Renda appeared to do well again Paul Smith, he was shown to be totally out of his depth when Paul decided to turn the fight on his head. I want to see Murray step up the compitition soon
