Yeah, what an idiot trying to compete at the world level. He should be ashamed of himself.
I never said he shouldn't have attempted to compete at world level, but it's quite clear that he hasn't got the chin to establish himself at the very top, as good as Poonsawat is he isn't the cream of the super bantamweight division.
Maybe not, but 39-1 with 28 KOs is rather impressive.

I'm not Irish. I think, as long as Dunne's chin isn't destroyed, Dunne would beat Munroe on points, in a competitive fight.

Just got back from Dublin. Unfortunately Dunne just couldn't take the power. The first left hook badly shook him up and he never recovered. Not totally convinced by the "not sticking to gameplan" stuff, I just think he's a bit too fragile to consistantly compete at world level.

Anyway, cracking atmosphere as usual at the 02.

Night, night!

im so pleased that poonsawat fulfilled his potential tonight. this fight came at the perfect time for him. as for dunne, the munroe match now looks a natural. both are euro level/world fringe boxers and it would be an even match.

full credit to dunne and his team for taking the poonsawat fight.

Good win for Poonsawat, no one has mentioned it but surely Frank can make him a decent enough offer to come over and defend against Munroe, seems a natural fight to me and I think it would be a cracker. Munroe has a tidy chin and if he actually executes gameplans he has a great chance in this fight.

Come on Frank, get it on.

could be an interesting one..but would munroe want it? personally, i rate dunne higher than rendall. the thai said he is prepared to travel wherever but will probably have a couple of easy defences in thailand first.

Dunne was outgunned and outclassed in this fight. Poonsawat is another level entirely.

Dunne is a good European level boxer, but guys like Poonsawat operate in a different class.

Get him in with Munroe, that should produce a good scrap.

anyone think dunne would go back down to european level?

also, anyone think he'll fight at super bantam again?

those are 2 big questions, for me at least.

my prediciton (and it may be way off): dunne up at featherweight, the hype will be that he's stronger at this weight (and probably very true), probably fights the usual fringe guys, media goes wild, and is moved toward one last world title fight.

(though let's not forget he was stopped by a stocky BANTAM last night, albeit a good 'un)

fighters do not like moving down in class, although you'd think dunne and munroe could make some money, and obviously this is what it's all about.

The whole evening was a sign of things to come, tyson fury, muffled ring entrance, terrible ring announcer, terrible remdition of the national anthem, the traditional rubbish commentary.

Wouldnt mind seeing Poonsawat v Nishioka in the future, two real attacking punchers.
sounds possible given the tradition of japan v thailand rivalries.

nishioka, while a raw talent, fought the outstanding veeraphol sahaprom to 2 losses and 2 very tough draws.

perhaps if nishioka's ppl want to cement him as a champion, they might try to make a poonsawat fight. nishioka is good, but he needs to distinguish himself in the post vazquez-marquez era, i would argue.

Munroe can't stop people for s**t and Dunne will outbox him for 12 rounds and this fight will happen sooner than people think

perhaps, because i'm sure it'd work as a good event. but can dunne keep making that 122 pounds? he looked awfully gaunt in the cordoba fight, and that must have taken something out of him.

i can see him rebounding at featherweight and perhaps seeking a shot at quality, light hitting chris john, for instance (WBA champ).

At the time I posted that he was 8-0 (7) which I would consider a pretty good KO rate and the commentators were going to town about his power. Basically just making a point that too many people assume he has power because hes big and has won most his fights by knockout. I see you know how to post smilies, good for you mate.

Styles make fights and I think to a certain degree Munroe would have a much better chance against Poon than Bernard, the chin was always the worry and that won't be such a pronounced disadvantage for Rendall as his whiskers are pretty fair to be honest. We know he can execute a plan as he did with the first Martinez fight to almost perfection to be fair. Poon is much better than Martinez I know that, however, if you want to be the best you have to keep going upwards and Munroe must want and most definately needs this fight.

Poon came to Ireland, don't know how much he got but I'll wager if Frank puts on the table for Poon what he is rumoured to have placed down for Munroe/Dunne, then come March/April next year its on over here.

Let Poon have his homecoming defence and Munroe disposes of Maludrottu, then negotiations can begin.

Sounds easy, clearly not but it has to be something Frank is thinking whilst he recuperates. Bet Munroe has been on the blower already, get me this guy.

poonsawat's manager has said today he will consider any offers in the next three months. if nothing comes up he will sort something out himself. poonsawat will fight anyone, anywhere so if rendall/maloney really want it then im sure it can be made.

a lot of you may be surprised that poonsawat only took home about 12 grand for last night.

If that figure is correct Lowersmith then this should be more than within the range of Maloney and Munroe, I'll wager Maludrottu is getting at least double that and possibly more for his euro shot at Munroe in November.

if so, if maloney can tempt poonsawat over, then what a development for Team Munroe that would be.

remember though - that figure was the result of a cocked-up purse bid. they will want a lot more for the next fight.

one point....poonsawat said in the build up that the fight he really wanted was with wbc champ toshiaki nishioka. if it happens and the thai wins will he become ''super'' champ alongside caballero?...maybe they will then face off for the ''diamond super'' title.

Tense atmosphere in O2 last night. The general view of the people i spoke to before the fight was either Dunne points win or Poonsawat KO. They were right:Dunne had first two rounds but Poonsawat unfortunately the KO.
Dunne I think was more gutted for his fans than for himself. He felt he let them done. I myself don't think so, he gave it 100% so he should feel 0% shame. He came up against the better man. The Thai people should feel very proud of their man!
Dunne has lost before & came back, so he can do the same again! Obviously, he will be very down, but he can take a bit of comfort of knowing that he has comeback in the past, so he knows its possible!

Despite the height & reach advantages Dunne had, Poonsawat looks to be big, muscualr for the weight, strong! In this game, no matter how well you box, pick up points, if you get caught right, you are gone! That's the way it is!

I could be wrong but after Dunne bet Cordoba weren't Dunne and his people looking at the possibility of fighting IBF Champion Cristobal Cruz at Featherweight? Cruz was reportably very interested in taking the fight. I think Dunne should move up to Featherweight, fight a few feather fisted top 30 Featherweights and go after Cruz who isn't a big puncher against decent fighters and he is very beatable as shown on his record with 11 losses. Can't help but feel that Dunne is going to have to be picky about future opponents and can't afford to enter the ring with a big puncher a-la Poonsawat et Kiko.

I would like to see Dunne fight Munroe now I think Dunne would have to much experience and gut's for him I doubt Munroe could deal with his power and come forward style but if Munroe's want's to go to world level this would be a good fight for him and a good comeback fight for Dunne

It would also cause excitiment in Britian and Ireland im sure :TU:
