How good is Froch's chin?
Any chance Dirrell knocks him out?
Has he ever been down or hurt in a fight?

Re: How good is Froch's chin?
I'd say his chin is good but alot of people take it to far. He can be hurt and if Dirrell hits him with a high number of hard shots he will do damage. I remember in arguments leading up to the Taylor fight people were saying stuff like "Taylor couldn't even hurt Ouma or Spinks, no way he will hurt Froch", and yet Taylor hurt and dropped Froch and the same people who made those comments continue to turn a blind eye and act like he is immune to feeling pain. Froch has a good chin, Dirrell will not get him out of there with one or two good shots, but if he hits him enough he will feel it.
I think the only fighters who stop Froch in the tournament would be Abraham and Kessler. Abraham on sure power and Kessler with a mix of skill and power. If Dirrell wins its will probably be on points.

No I did not see it, I obviously know he won by a KO in the last round. I got the idea that Taylor just outboxed him, I don't know if he hit him with any flush shots.sg1985 wrote:didn't you watch the taylor fight? or read a report?

I looked into it and now vaguely remember it. I didn't remember it because he got up and came back to win the fight.Hagler2002 wrote:dajuggernaut wrote:No I did not see it, I obviously know he won by a KO in the last round. I don't know how I got home last night, I vaguely remember a incident in a nightclub but that's about it from 1am onwards.dajuggernaut wrote:

Hmm...interesting. Anything Froch related to contribute?Hagler2002 wrote:I don't know how I got home last night, I vaguely remember a incident in a nightclub but that's about it from 1am onwards.dajuggernaut wrote:

Re: How good is Froch's chin?
If you are thinking about betting on Dirrell by stoppage I wouldn't. I think he will be in hit and run mode all night and not bother to sit down on power shots. Picture his fight with Curtis Stevens, and that's what he will try and do.
Re: How good is Froch's chin?
Considering how many punches he takes with his hands down by his side i would say his chin is very impressive, however there was a point in the pascal fight near the end of one of the rounds where i could have seen him going down if it hadn't been the end of the round. He ate a flush shot from taylor and recovered very well from it, head cleared fast.
So yea, his chin is very good but he's not invincible that's for sure. I think kessler is the only person i would favour to stop froch in this tournament.

His chin is good, perhaps very good
But its not iron. Taylor is the most correct puncher he has faced and he got dropped and buzzed a few times. Taylor is no kind of power puncher at SMW so one would have to question how Froch ould stand up to Kessler's right hands. Once he gest past Andre we'll find out
But I'm just a casual observer. If you want an 'unbiased' opinion wait for Gomez to tell you all about Froch and his whiskers

I don't think anyone would expect Gomez to give an 'unbiased' opinion!lefthook82 wrote:His chin is good, perhaps very good

No lateral movement, moves back in straight lines and has been nowhere near world level, Dirrel will get destroyed.
Froch stoppage is 5/2 MMMmmmm lovely.

Have you been living on mars for the last 6 months,if you have then maybe you might not have heard about his fight with taylor, anyway to answer your question, yes i think he has a good chin because his head clears quickly, yes he got hurt a few times against taylor but recovered fast.dajuggernaut wrote:Any chance Dirrell knocks him out?

Re: How good is Froch's chin?
He has a solid chin but his defence is poor so he is there to be hit and can be caught of balance at the top level I dont see Dirrell stopping him though
Re: How good is Froch's chin?
I really doubt Dirrell would win by KO. Taylor is a superb boxer and when he hits someone properly they get very hurt (look at the Pavlik fight. Pavlik has a very good chin). Froch was hit with a shot he didn't see coming. It knocked him down, but his eyes were clear and his legs were still sturdy. Froch's chin is very good.dajuggernaut wrote:I'm thinking of betting Dirrell on points. I don't want him to stop Froch so I'm asking about Froch's chin.
However, the more punches a boxer takes, the worse their resistance gets. If Dirrell is able to perform a systematical beat down, like Mayweather versus Hatton, then he could create an opportunity for a KO. But that's very unlikely, imo.
Most likely is that Dirrell has some success, but, ultimately, can't deal with Froch, who will be right in front of him for the duration of the fight. In order for Dirrell to win, he's going to have to avoid engaging for the duration of the fight. I'm not sure he has the mental aptitude to win this.
Hope that helps, Juggs.

Dirrell won't stop him, Froch has a very decent chin a world level.
Close fight either way though.
Froch by close UD.

Summarises it perfectly for me. Good post.Asterix wrote:I really doubt Dirrell would win by KO. This is a spot on post and I couldn't worded it better!!
Re: How good is Froch's chin?
He has got a good chin and good recovery powers on evidence of Froch vs Taylor and also Pascal vs Froch. The problem lies in his non-existent defense with his hands down by his waist, especially his left and seems like he is easy to hit. He cannot afford this style against powerful and skilled boxers like Kessler but then again he can bang back!!
Re: How good is Froch's chin?
he's very togh and durable. but as someone said above, i would not like to see him put it to the test vs arthur abraham - a power puncher - or kessler - who can bust you up with straight one-twos.
Re: How good is Froch's chin?
Dirrell only appears to have power in his uppercut. If he throws that he'll be wide open.
Re: How good is Froch's chin?
Although he was hit way to much there... Everything that landed on his chin he took well as usual. It's not so much that perhaps they didn't rock him, it's more a case of the speed at which he recovers from taking anything.
He does a hell of a lot of leg work and when you get rocked a good strong pair of legs keeps you upright.
It's the first thing Freddie did with Khan, was take the size off his upper body and put it on his legs.
Anyway, It was a weird, heavy shot high on the top of his head that put him on his backside, nowhere near the face / jaw section.
