Pascal wins again

Post by forcefraser »

Stopped Branco in the 10th last Friday night. Good win.

Froch did well to beat him. Pascal is a quality operator with balls.

He's quality with the boxing gloves, too.

Agree - I aint the biggest Froch fan, but he would have been expected to beat Dianconu and Branco comfortably enough.

Lots of good fighters at Light heavy, be nice if they fought each other. Dawson and Hopkins seem to be #1 and #2... that number #3 position is very much up for grabs - that Campillo, Garay, and that Khazak fighter are all good guys. Brahmer looks to be getting his act together. Murat is good also.

He needs to fight somebody of substance next. His last two fights have not really proved much post Froch imo

Diaconu is good. He's a dangerous pressure fighter, with good variety and accuracy, and hits very hard. Problem is, he has been undone by injury (hand) and very bad inactivity.

I can't understand ppl saying Diaconu is poor, or that Pascal "proved nothing" vs him.

Someone try to tell me that the Diaconu of the Hoye fight (whom he smashed to pieces) or the Diaconu from rds 7-12 v Pascal, isn't any good. Pascal and Diaconu are going to fight - again - on a big, atmospheric stage, and hopefully they will sort out the TV situation this time.

Branco is a spoiler, was mandatory, is still fit and well preserved - a light heavy version of Malignaggi, but older. Pascal doesn't like rangy guys and counter punchers, so he had a decent workout. it was a good result, getting the stoppage, due to Branco's experience.

I'm a fan of Pascal

Got a heart of a champion

Strong will to win

Good attitudte

Physically strong and muscular

Fit and very well conditioned

Flashy style

He was unlucky not to win the WBC Super Middleweight title - he just happened to bump into a guy who is just as strong and determined as himself in Carl Froch

Both quality operators - and I think their 12 round fight was the making of both Froch and Pascal - both quality fighters

Everyone downplayed Frochs win - because Pascal was a unknown to many - but I rated him and thought it was a very good performance from both fighters

Now Pascal has become WBC Light Heavyweight - shows just what a quality operaoter he is

I like him - he came over to Britian as a underdog to meet a fellow unbeaten fighter and just lost out in a wildly competitive scrap - thats the blue print of a true fighter

But has come on from that - and gone on and progressed his career

Jean Pascal's are good for boxing

Its the likes of Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe who set a negative blueprint for how to manage your career - making 20 defences at your local arean for maxium money and little risk

From a purely finicially selfish point of view - Hatton and Calzaghe done good

But they are not good for boxing as whole

Jean Pascal is though :TU: :box:

Branco about 65 years old. Adrian Diaconu II and Tavoris Cloud would be ideal fights

Branco lost to Woodhall 14 years ago - I actually credit that as the best performance of Woodhalls career.

He's very long in the tooth now, and I would have thought a young gunner like Pascal would have dealt with this a bit quicker than he did.

I think that maybe that's the thing with Pascal, he may not have took this fight very seriously. I mean, how could he ?

He was sending out messages on facebook asking if i was attending his 'after-fight party' right before the fight.

I said i couldn't get a babysitter.... (or a return ticket to Canada :D )

hes as strong as an ox at light heavy asnd would be extremely hard going for anyone bar bernard hopknis who would probably be too crafty

he is definetly a true champion and im looking forward to seeing him again

credit must also go to branco who is still operating at the top level fighting the young guns even at his advance d age
