Виталий Кличко vs Chris Arreola
Виталий Кличко vs Chris Arreola
Fair play to Arreola, he did give it his all and showed some very good qualities.
Chin, heart and will to win.. if he could couple that with a bit more fitness and finesse to back up his attacks then he could definitely come again against someone more his own size.
His post-fight interview was from the heart. Not sure if you have seen it but here it is on 'tube:-

He tried. We'll have to see what he's got left now, physically (punch resistance) and mentally (determination & drive).

Re: Виталий Кличко vs Chris Arreola
There was some talk that he broke from pre-fight camp to go drinking for a period of time (I heard as much as10 days?!?)
IF that is true, it is little surprise to me that Klit handed him a steady beating: if nothing else, Vitali is a dedicated professional who always comes to fight night in good condition.
All that said, Arroela can come again - he didnt disgrace himself in there and would beat a lot of the rest of the contenders on the scene at the moment..

Vitali doesnt knock people out with heavy single shots but tends to wear fighters down with an accumulation of punches round after round.G0mez wrote:Could Haye have hung in there taking them shots do we think ?
I think Haye could take Vitali's single shots but I dont think he would be able to get close enough to Vitali, consistantly enough, to take the big man out.
He would make a fight of it, much in the same way that Arreola did, but would ultimately lose in the latter part of the fight IMO.
Hayve v Arreola would be a hell of a fight - an exciting shoot out.

Here is a more upbeat Arreola after his up and down win over Travis WalkerG0mez wrote:Fair play to Arreola, he did give it his all and showed some very good qualities.

He is an entertaining fighter - both in the ring and on the mike!
Re: Виталий Кличко vs Chris Arreola
This was incredibly predictable, despite the hype our cousins across the pond gave Arreola.
What's more interesting to me, is what kind of fighter could beat Klitschko?
I just don't know.

Plus, from something I posted on the Current Scene:
" Arreola has a first class chin, but what the feck was he doing trundling after Big Klit with such a lack of urgency? I'm sure he closes the distance to the bar quicker.
Tell me how a pressure fighter can be expected to put pressure on when he moves like he's wading through treacle? His utter lack of technique didn't help, nor did the jigglyness of the extra thirty pounds he carries.
When is a dude going to realise that to fight a big guy you must go in & out, use the double jab to close the range, & don't let them lean on you? It's like all Vitali's opponents have this idea of weighing in super-heavy in an attempt to lean on him & tire him out, a plan chock-ful of stupid. You have to make that big body burn calories without expending too many yourself; a hard task, but one that Eddie Chambers & Evander Holyfield managed to have success with (obviously against varying opposition!).
Though Arreola did deliver a nice overhand right to the top rope at one point, his most impressive punch of the evening."
The Klits are far from unbeatable. They're just unbeatable if you're two stone overweight.

Re: Виталий Кличко vs Chris Arreola
Seeing as their aren't any World class BIG guys, if someone has a big punch and can get inside the Klitschkos' reach without being pummelled, they have a decent chance of winning. The only guy who looks like he might have a semblance of a chance is David Haye, but I still think both Klits beat him.

Re: Виталий Кличко vs Chris Arreola
It shows the diffrence between the Klitschko's and the rest Arreola was a top contender and Klitschko beat him very handily I thought he would as Arreola is a come forward fighter who doesnt have a great defence and is small that plays into Klitschko's hands really

Re: Виталий Кличко vs Chris Arreola
i honestly think that arreola would have stood more of a chance if he tried to duck and weave to close the gap rather than doing a really poor Abraham defence mimic and just striding forward.. It was only a matter of time when those kilt hits accumulated. If anyone out there is going to beat either klit, its got to be someone who is effective at closing the gap or someone who is of comparable size.
Re: Виталий Кличко vs Chris Arreola
No way, but Haye poses a much bigger threat in terms of explosiveness and punching power. For me Arreola was nothing more than a walking punching bag on Saturday. He deserves respect for hanging in there after taking a lot of punches, but he wasn't actually doing a lot offensively. Now some of that was down to Vitali's movement, which isn't to bad. But it was also down to Arreola not being in the best of shape and not being able to get off with explosive punches.G0mez wrote:Could Haye have hung in there taking them shots do we think ?
Vitali's chin is there to be hit with the way he carries his left hand so low. He stood within punching range of Arreola throughout that whole fight, but Arreola just didn't have what it takes to land anything of consequence.

spot on there Art....coudlnt agree more.
think arreola is getting far more credit than he deserves to be frank.
