Yep ever since they stopped showing the mucky stuff at nights there's not much on it to watch.Adamj1987 wrote:channel 5 would be good
Terrestrial TV would be a real coup for Hennessy.
Re: rumour circulating!!!
Fingers crossed!!
I think this tournament deserves a tv slot and could be very good for the game.

Re: rumour circulating!!!
5 every now and then show obscure american fights late at night. didnt they dip their toes by showing the skelton vs rogan highlights? I think they'd do a good job with boxing. low budget, just show the fights, sensible punditry thats kept to a minimum.......
does any1 remember that contender style show they did where they plucked 8 amatuers and had a box off? Hagler presented the "belt".

Don't get your point Gomez.
Don't give a shit what the foreigners are spending and who sees it abroad, want to see it in the UK and ideally that the deal with the UK Broadcaster puts dosh in the kitty for the fighters.
Just can't see anything major though but stress again sincerely hope I'm wrong.

Re: Kessler in Notts wednesday
From a UK TV point of view, it's a shame Froch doesn't get Abrahams next. Because whoever screens these here ( my wild guess would be ITV ) would be able to show AA/Taylor out of Germany, and the Froch fight - same night, back to back.
That would set things up for the viewers perfectly - keep things for the next stage simple: the two winners they've just seen, meeting each other next time out, prizefighter style.
They set up the first Leonard/Hearns fight that way, both winning in blistering style on the same night, different arenas, setting up the showdown. Much bigger scale of course, but the idea worked brilliantly.
Of course Taylor winning wouldn't be as attractive as AA v Froch....Still it's going to be a hell of a showcase night - Froch v the brash yank in his hometown, and Abraham in VERY tough with Taylor. That's a 50/50 fight, Taylor will give King Arthur nightmares.

froch is the favourite anyway isn't he?
Re: Kessler in Notts wednesday
I think Abraham and Froch fights hsould be on the same bill makes commercial sense!
Re: Kessler in Notts wednesday
I agree with leforge we should have two fights on the same bill either in America, Germany or UK.
I hope this is a proper tv deal and not some highlights package or something. Dead excited about this now and I really hope it's ITV because I really like John Rawling and Duke McKenzie, they've done a splendid job over the years when allegedly was on ITV and now with Hennessy.

Re: Kessler in Notts wednesday
Which was what everybody must have thought when this idea was first announced. It's hard enough to hold one fight together, let alone 6 over 6 months in 6 different places.Ant Evans wrote: Lot of people in boxing don't think these fights will come off and the tornament will end half way through.
But I read somewhere that Showtime had tied them to watertight contracts, once they signed up, and they'd be "finished" in boxing if they pulled out ( whatever that means ) either way, hopefully pulling out will be more trouble than it's worth...
