Taylor v Abraham
Despite seeing him pummeled by Pavlik and Froch (both quite brutally) I still feel that Taylor is a dangerous fighter.
He almost had Pavlik out in their first fight and although Froch wasn`t badly hurt by his knockdown, it takes some power to put him on the deck.
He does seem to lack the killer instinct to finish the job, but there is no doubt that he is a big threat early on.
Abraham is a tough cookie, but his recent opposition has not been in teh Taylor class, far from it and he looked lethargic in his last fight.
I see that you can get 4-1 for Taylor to win by knockout against Abraham and I might have a piece of that. I like Taylor, he has qualities that none of the others in the tournament have and if he hits form, he will be a hard man to beat.
Anybody else see a Tayloy win by stoppage? or am I overestimating him and underestimating King Arthur?

Re: Taylor v Abraham
Taylor definately has a chance, he has considerable advantages in height reach and speed and also can whack.
It's a case of whether he does the weight properly and sorts his conditioning. If he does this I give him a decent enough chance.

Re: Taylor v Abraham
reckon abraham systematically chops him down, especially in germany, especially up at super middle.

yeah abs is too much for him.Autobarn wrote:reckon abraham systematically chops him down, especially in germany, especially up at super middle.
those combo's will break taylor down.
Re: Taylor v Abraham
i can see it being very similar to the froch fight taylor taking an early lead an gassing late on and getting stopped between 10-12

Re: Taylor v Abraham
I think the jury is still out on Abraham. Admittedly he looks tough as nails and that first fight with Miranda proved that. But I think this is a big step up in class for him and he has a serious height disadvantage.
Re: Taylor v Abraham
For me it's a question of how long can Taylor withstand Abraham's pressure tactics. Jermain's speed and timing could give Abraham big problems, but Abraham is expert at getting the pressure just right. Saying that, will Taylor be rewarded in Germany if he does manage to outbox Abraham?
Re: Taylor v Abraham
I just hope Abraham dosn't come in fat. He's a short compact guy. I know he can't make 160 anymore, but I don't want him to come in at a full, beefy 168. I think it could really slow him down. 165 or 166 might be best.
AA will start slowly, and he'll be tense at the start, but I feel he'll gradually put it together. If he works the body then moves up to the head, he can break his man down and perhaps finish him very brutally.

Re: Taylor v Abraham
IMO Abraham is the best fighter in the super 6 and wins this via ko sometime around the 8th.
Re: Taylor v Abraham
ppl say abraham's competition is suspect, and while it's clear he hasn't truly "stepped up", he has a lot of experience vs different styles of fighting. i feel he's been hurting himself continuing to make 160, but this must have really tought him how to pace himself, how to make his shots count for more. if he's as good as i hope he will be at super middle, he'll be very good indeed.
taylor will be a good test of abraham's adaptability.

Agree with the views of Autobarn and James Wilson.
Re: Taylor v Abraham
Abraham has looked very ordinary in his last couple of outings. The fact that he's moved up now though supports the idea that he was really struggling at 160, so he should be much stronger at the weight. I still think Taylor is a dangerous opponent who is capable of suprising Abraham. I can't really pick a winner, too many unknown factors for me. Taylor has been KO'd in 2 of his last 3 and Abrham is in unknown territory at 168 and hasn't been looking great.
Re: Taylor v Abraham
Abraham actually looked great at 166 knocking out Miranda in America. Andre Ward gets tons of credit for "Ottke-ing" Miranda but Abraham smashed him in, seemingly without landing with full power.
I'm sure "King Arthur" will have fought above middleweight prior to his title-winning days, also.
IMO, Arthur looked excellent in his last fight, choping down Mahir Oral. He also destroyed Gevor - the man who was apparently robbed v Sturm - and battered Kingsley Ikeke - a talented, top 10 middleweight at the time. It's not like he hasn't beaten anyone, and the experience could serve him well in the super 6. I get the feeling that while Taylor's time has gone, that it could be Abraham's time.
Arthur looked dreadful vs Lajuan Simon two fights ago. It seems this was because of poor preparation and difficulty in making the weight.

I think Taylor might be a dark horse in this tournement. I think Taylor will either outbox him and win a UD or get outworked by the powerful Abraham and gets KO'd late
It's a tough one to call they are 2 contrasting styles

think anraham will stop tsylor, grind him down before getting him out of there
Re: Taylor v Abraham
Taylor is definately the dark horse of the tournement and the one who could spring a surprise on us all, but i'll go and say that he wont win it. He has serious stamina problems and Kessler, Froch and Abraham all go the distance well. All of them also hit like a mule so its hard to see Taylor not getting sparked by at least one of them.
The fight with Abraham is difficult to weigh up, Abraham can be a very lazy fighter, a notorious slow starter, so Taylor has a great chance of taking this on points if he can stay the distance well and not get himself caught down the stretch.
Ward and Dirrell i have seen very little of so cant comment on them.

Re: Taylor v Abraham
Going to be a terrific fight this one, Taylor always come out of the blocks fast, and when he's in full flow, the punches he throws and lands look almost effortless. He'll be clattering Abraham with some almighty shots early on, but Arthur's looks to have as good a chin as Froch, and just as tough, the Miranda fights told us all we need to know about that.
But Taylor can certainly whack, even Carl will admit that now.
But like everyone else in the world, I can't see AA losing just yet - he'll need to put in a hell of a performance to win though, as Taylor will be looking at this as a last chance.

Re: Taylor v Abraham
I give Abraham the edge if it goes to the scorecards. Abraham could even stop Taylor late on. Taylor IMO will start fast but will fade a bit after the halfway point. Cant see Taylor winning but I think it will be close, maybe just a couple of rounds.
