v Rocky Muscas, in fairness I thought Floyd looked pretty sharp, not bad for a 44 year old ex super feather who spent years away from the gym, all the show was good too, well attended and enjoyed by all.
Joe Pyle used to put on good pro shows as well

Floyd use to to some training in the gym behind my back garden.
Gareth Bevan who trained Colin Jones - also trained Floyd Havard for some time during his pro career too.
Gareth Bevan run the gym behind my garden for more than 40 years before he retired.
Carlton Leech - is that the guy who was the last survior of the Essex Boys - but his mates Tony Tucker and Pat Tate and Carig Wolfe were murdered in the Range Rover ?

Re: Video Of Floyd Havard Fighting Unlicensed
yeah he fought John John Molina and got stopped.
He sparred with my brothers mate who was turning pro around 1997 and bashed him up a bit - the guy didnt go pro in the end though - he knew how tough it would be to compete at pro level.
Colin Jones and Floyd Havard are the two biggest names to come out of the gym behind my garden.
However Colin lives right by the gym and trained there from a 9 year old boy - and still runs the gym today as a guy around 50 years old - he has a life long association with the gym - having taken over from his old trainer Gareth Bevan who retired from old age.
But I think Havard only came down the gym and trained and sparred a bit when he was a pro and Gareth Bevan trained him for a World title shot against Molina.
As for the Essex Boys - I know all about that story.
Pat Tate was crazy - and would nail all the birds and beat up pizza delievery men.
tony tucker was a bodyguard for Nigel Benn at his fights.
And Carlton Leech and Tucker would go and train with Nigel Benn in Tenerife.
But Tucker had his face blasted off with a pump action shotgun.
I get the impression that Tony Tucker and Pat Tate were big liberty takers with people - and in the end they had a real bad karma.

But I know a amateur who did spar with him when he was around 18 and gonna turn pro - and they video taped the session and he got bashed around like a rag doll
But I dont think he was too serious about the game - despite having alot of amateur fights - when it came time to turn to pro, etc - I think he lost desire and just became a normal adult - got a girl - liked few pints down the pub, etc
Its hard to keep the motivation of when you are young - as you get older - different motivations enter your life

Re: Video Of Floyd Havard Fighting Unlicensed
Thats true
But when your a young man - on the weekend at least - you wanna get pissed and go out and try and get with a sexy woman
Thats the main motivation of most young men
So to be a boxer - takes alot of sacarfice and clean living - which is probaly harder than the training and fighting
Who wants to go boxing training - when you could be down the Pub with your mates - or going out tonight to meet and shag that bird
When your a kid - I think its easier to be focused on sport, etc
But it gets harder when you get older - and lots of young promising prospects lose their focus and fail to realise their potential

Cheers for the link Coco - Floyd was one of my favourite British fighters of that area: tough, highly skiled and a joy to watch.
When he opened up in that video you could see many of the old punches flowing again

I sparred with Floyd plenty, he never took liberties, he is a class act.FLINT ISLAND wrote:I dont know - about a gym bully - I dont really know the guyTommy Gunn13 wrote:Im surprised hes fighting unlicensed(Havard) think i read somewhere he was living abroad(might have been boxing news)

He signed a 7 fight deal with FW had a couple of wins then got offered an easy WBO shot short notice which he turned down, he was always fussy about needing the time in the gym, he always put weight on easy too. FW gave the shot to Barry Jones instead, and never used Floyd again, he was left in limbo and it finished his career
