Didnt know there was a gym down there

Or do you mean Mario Maccarenellis gym in Bonymaen ?

Haha no mate, I know exactly where I mean, but it is closed now though, but it was probably Swansea's most renowned club, run by Dai George's old man who foughtthe British Fly title
Scott Gammer was always trained by his old man in Pembroke, but he was managed by Paul Boyce who Colin Jones is big mates with. Colin was training Paul's other fighter Ceri Hall

Maybe it was Yates I recognise you from

I do recongise you though - vaguely - I recongise your face from one of the doors -

Must be Yates

Working on any Swansea door currently ?

Thanks for clearing that up, coco. Floyd always seemed like a nice guy when he was interviewed on those old ITV Fight Night shows.

Flint Island ought to keep his daft stories to himself.
Have you got any of his old fights you could stick up on youtube Collins?? :box:
I will see what I can do. I haven't put any fights up for a while.

Big Eric must have some he could bung up too...

Thornhill was strong but a bit predictable and flat footed, Rutherford had my number a bit, not a banger, but a stinging puncher, very quick and had great timing, couldn't get him to miss whatever I did! When I fought Earl it was stopped after about a minute after I slipped on water in the corner so I can't judge. Murray was wide open and I always thought he would struggle against the better fighters but was nevertheless the hardest puncher that I fought by a long way. PJ was a light hitter but very sharp and had great variety of shot. Shepard was just strong and fit, not a pucher at all, and was badly cut in my fight, I couldn't believe I was the one that was stopped as he never landed on me but he had already signed for the British title fight. I showed inexperience by sitting on the ropes waiting for the ref to stop the fight, which gave him an excuse to stop me. Cook had a bit of everything and IMO was the best I fought, I feel that despite winning Euro and IBO titles that he really underachieved. Pickering was a bit special too, despite giving away a load of weight to me just popped in and out landing flush and I couldn't get near him, good job he wasn't a puncher and was smaller than me! Steve Conway(l/middle IBO champ) was similar, I really chased after him without landing anything, just being caught by counters all night. I was suprised how well Scott Dixon did too, and I couldn't believe they put him down at 9st 6lbs, he was twice the size of me, however he really did show his metal later in his career so perhaps just had an off night
Lol i'm sure ive bored you all now!!

Quite the opposite - that sort of insider view is always fascinating. Agree about Cook as I always felt he under-achieved, but quite surprised that Murray was a harder puncher than him by a long way. Expected those two to be neck-and-neck in the power stakes!
