Samoan tsunami

Post by oliverfennell »

Terrible news about the tsunami that hit Samoa and Tonga. It might seem trivial in the face of such tragedy to think about boxing, but any word on whether anybody from David Tua's family and village were affected, and if so, any chance he will pull out of Saturday's fight? Nobody would blame him if he did. If he doesn't, it might still distract him - even if his family is safe, chances are he'll know people who have been killed or affected, since Samoa is such a close-knit society.

actually i was totally wrong it was WESTERN samoa that got hit the hardest...

BBC reports at least 77 people were reported dead in Samoa, more than 25 in American Samoa and at least six in Tonga, on the island of Niuatoputapu.

i also read on wikipedia (i know so dont bother saying it) that one hosital in apia, western samoas capital reported 79 bodies

i don't know the details, but i've heard reports that Tua's aunt didn't make it.

It is a very sad event. I hope we as a nation offer assitance.
