yes but if they kept doing that it would be boring tv.Does everyone else question their training regimes, I mean "novice" fighters who have only got 6 weeks to prepare doing Ballet and dancing. I mean come on, get the buggers sparring, sparring, sparring.
Boxing Academy
I've always assumed that they spar a lot more than we see, but due to 'entertainment value' they just show a little bit of everything.REAL_DEAL wrote:yes but if they kept doing that it would be boring tv.Does everyone else question their training regimes, I mean "novice" fighters who have only got 6 weeks to prepare doing Ballet and dancing. Good points both, but isn't Sparring supposed to be not boring - I mean its not a ballet contest. Its supposed to be boxing, that is the thing that five are hoping will attract a big audience in the final and they gear the sparring as a big issue in these recorded shows, why not more of the "big issues".KOJOE90 wrote:I've always assumed that they spar a lot more than we see, but due to 'entertainment value' they just show a little bit of everything.REAL_DEAL wrote:yes but if they kept doing that it would be boring tv.Does everyone else question their training regimes, I mean "novice" fighters who have only got 6 weeks to prepare doing Ballet and dancing. Fair point Stu, I'm sure many of us here, myself included would like to see a lot more sparring, with comments about the fighters performance from their trainers and other fighters such as Woodhall and Hatton etc. It would indeed be very interesting.stujones wrote:Good points both, but isn't Sparring supposed to be not boring - I mean its not a ballet contest. However I 'assume' the program makers thought this may put off new or casual viewers. Whether this was be the right decision is indeed up for debate. This is just my guess as to what happed during the making of the program.
As a side note, with regard to the Ballet scene, I remember reading around the time Evander Holyfield moved up to Heavyweight he had Ballet lesson to help with his balance and flexability. I was surprised this wasn't mentioned in the program.
