Carl Johanneson / George Groves both on at Sunderland.

Post by Andy »

Sunderland Echo say that Paul Holborn will now face Carl Johanneson on the October 16th bill http://www.sunderlandecho.com/moreboxin ... 5694656.jp
George Groves, meanwhile, has signed a promotional deal with Maloney and he also boxes.

George is going to be promoted by Frank Maloney and managed by Adam Booth.

Very good signing for Maloney.

Agreed good signing - especially when Travis Dickinson and him fight and Dickinson beats him again

Agreed Real Dead Maloney is brilliant at the moment and he's got the Moore v Rhodes fight to come.

I didnt know Johanneson was making a comeback untill I found he's fighting on this card, really cracking fighter and makes this bill even better now.

Should the two meet as pros I'd favour Groves to come out on top. Think Bowe vs Gonzalez

It was meant to be Castle v Holborn, then Castle dropped out. Be interesting to see what Carl like at lightweight! Good to see Geoge still being trained by Booth.

isnt all this a bit strange?maloney got haye to the undisputed cruiserwieght championship before been dropped, and then remains on good terms and signs two of their hottest prospects when they are having a hard time.also,he allows booth to remain trainer?shouldnt they all hate each other?

I saw Carl a few days ago doing hill sprints with his trainer and another lad (it was near Mabgate in Leeds where former 'manager' Rick Manners has his gym, hope this doesn't indicate he's involved with him again!!) He looked in quite phenomenal shape, well down in weight, positively gaunt in the face and handling the sprints with some ease, I wondered then if he had a bout lined up

Really nice kid Carl and on form a very decent fighter, he's had trouble in the past with poor choice of management (Mr. Manners mentioned above) changes of trainer and letting his weight go in between bouts. I really hope can get back to something like his old form and make some decent money before he retires

man grenade wrote:Has hayemaker folded then?Hardly seems worth it now that price, groves and matthews have done the off.
im not sure mate, unless hayemaker have called a 'time out' until they have a tv deal lined up, and they can focus on this after the valuev fight, as im sure the tv companies will want a tv deal for the world HW champion, well, one of them anyway.

still says on groves web site that he is fighting on the valuev undercard on nov 7, im guessing this is off now.
