ROUND 4
Left right combos from Murray again, Thaxtons defence is non existent. Great right hand from Murray, ref stops it. Thaxton didnt hit canvass but he wasnt offering much.Maybe a bit of early stoppage.

Feel sorry for Thaxton but I think if the fight had of went on it was only delaying the inevitable. Murray looked impressive. Thaxton wasnt happy it was stopped.

Way to early for me, he was covering and bobbing getting his composure.

Good job Carl Thompson didnt get many decisions like that or he'd never have a career.

Murray would have won sooner or later but that was early

Was an early call but it was inevitable that murray would win in my opinion ( yes not the excuse for a a ref to call it but that boxing these days i guess)

I feel a slightly too soon stoppage, a fighter like Thaxton should be allowed to go out on his sword to a certain extent, especially in a title fight as it was. I feel they should have let it go a bit longer just to see if he could stay up and make any sort of comeback.

I wanted to see a compasionate stoppage.... but wanted to go a round or two more. I feared the fight was going to go 8 rounds in that nature.

God, I would have loved to have been able to see Murray keep pressing Thaxton, wobbling him all over the ring, and dropping him.

That was authoritative and technically sound boxing from John Murray. His positioning was near perfect and he solved the wonky Ingle style after about 2 minutes. Murray's lead left hooks were brilliant, and he stopped Thaxton from moving to his own right (Murray's left).

I felt Murray did similar things to Thaxton, as Romanov. While that was then, and this is now, Murray looked stronger and fitter than Romanov (who has breaks, etc). Murray also looked very lean.

Excellent performance. Get Murray that EBU title shot before McAllister (a Murray victim) lands it.

Thaxton should retire before he becomes a domestic yardstick.

i think he deserved one last chance given how he came back from the long retirement, and from the romanov shellacking. he deserved to be there, but probably he should chuck it in now.

had a very exciting career, i'm chuffed that he won british and euro titles, it was thrilling watching him do this. some great fights (stewart, mezaache), some great KOs (melero), a masterclass (meager). but murray, romanov and obviously hatton were way too much for this distinguished, admirable pro.

Think Thaxton said before the fight that this would be his last whether he won or lost.

Well done John Murray.

I'm doffing my cap in appreciation of John Thaxtons career, he's been a genuine boxing warrior. Good luck for the future Jono
