As a boxing fan for over 50 years, I have seen many of the best fighters and also some of the worst. Regardless, I respect them all because boxing is not only a sport, but a metaphor for life.
When the movie "Tyson" opened in a limited release in theaters, I was excited and anxious to see if it would reveal any insights or a perspective that would allow us to see a man who has defined the sport in both it's best and worst aspects.
Now I have it on DVD and watched it again. I think that as Tyson now is in his mid forties, he has mellowed and grown although it has come at a tremendous price. It's hard to know what the future holds for him. He will be able to qualify for the Hall of Fame next year.
So.....chime in with your thoughts and comments. What did YOU think of the DVD? Does Tyson belong in the Hall? Will be be remembered for what he accomplished or as a tarnished warrior who bit Evander Holyfield's ear?
Me personally, Tyson belongs in the Hall.

Tyson remains the youngest HW champ in history & that's unlikely to ever be broken. They say never say never, but with the way the HW division is currently, there's no chance of it happening!
Tyson dominated the division in his first reign, he took on all comers, no ducking of anyone. Me & my eldest brother were watching some of his early fights on friday night, & for a guy who was so young, Tyson was such an adavanced fighter! Teddy Atlas once said Tyson was like a sponge & he just obsorbed things & learned new skills very quickly!
Ok, so he fought a few stiffs on his way up, but who doesn't? Its a learning process. Not to mention that he was just a kid, eighteen, nineteen years old.
H2H, IMO, Tyson is right up there!
Now, the James Toback documentry is good. Tyson does not hold back. Howeve,r its not long enough.
I do question the theory about Tyson being on Drugs when he first became champ. I mean, surely with the testing procesdures before & after fights, something would have been detected if he was under the influence?

On drugs??? Who said that? In the documentary Tyson said he was suffering from the clap, not drugs.
