Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
As promised heres how I see the fights happening this comming Saturday
Robbie Berridge VS Joseph Kwadjo - 6x3min @ Super-Middleweight
Berridge is a nice young prospect, he has some pop and laid Waru out BIG time in his last fight. Having said that Waru is really a welterweight/light-middle at best Berridge is a super-middle. Kwadjo is a experienced Ghanian with more fights that his record would suggest. Reports are he KO'd Berridge in sparring not so long ago. I feel Berridge maybe taking a step to far to early here, and am going to give Kwadjo the edge because of experience and Berridge my still have that KO in the back of his mind. Interesting fight though
Entertainment Value: 6/10
Result: Kwadjo WMD6
Lawrence Tauasa VS Daniel Ammann - 6x3min @ Cruiserweight
This to me is Experience VS the Hunger of a up in comming fighter. How much has Tauasa really faded? This is good matchup and at first instance id take Tausas over 6 as his experience whould carry him home. But i think hes faded alot over the last 18 months. Maybe so much so that a fast starting hungary Ammann has enough to beat him.
Entertainment Value: 6/10
Result: Ammann UD6
Max Alexander VS Moyoyo Mensah - 6x3min @ Cruiserweight
Well of course i may have a biased opinion here but I think this is Max's fight. Hes fought tough comp in his last few fights and Moyoyo is definately a level or two below them. Although hes a tough customer he'll be fit and ready and never gives in. Another well matched fight. Mensah always comes to fight, often getting dragged into a brawl.
Entertainment Value: 7/10
Result: Alexander UD6
Steve Heremai VS Frank Loporto - 6x3min @ Middleweight
Man im looking forward to this fight. Heremaia is explosive if hes been training hard which i imagine he has been given the magnitufde of this show he'll be guns blazing start to finish. He's tough as nails also and will be right in front of Loporto all night. Loporto is a tough quality fighter at regional level hes near the top, a former aussie champ has a great chin and loves a decent scrap. Thisis a great matchup. I feel Loporto has a better skill base than Heremaia so long as he can withstand Heremaias onslaught.
Entertainment Value: 9/10
Result: Loporto SD6
Soulan Pownceby VS Shane chapman - 6x3min @ Light-Heavyweight
Soulan is on the way up hes been protected alot in his 11 wins and this is really his first stern test. Having said that Chapman crosses between boxing and kickboxing and without his full concentration on boxing Soulan would have the edge. Soul is looking sharp at the moment but Chapman will be in there from start tofinish hes a true warrior and with his huge background in the kick game he has alot of experience in fights to call upon.
Entertainment Value: 5/10
Result: Pownceby UD6
John Hopoate Vs Colin Wilson - 10x3min @ Heavyweight
I thought these two would always meet at some stage, just not in NZ! However Hoppa has proven twice against Mirovic that hes capable of fending of the experinced warriors of the Oz scene. Wilson has showen some good signs in his draw with Solo, but this is Hoppas fight to loose.
Entertainment Value: 8/10
Result: Hopoate TKO7
David Tua Vs shame Cameron - 12x3min @ Heavyweight
Man you could break down this fight all night. Both guys will no doubt be in great shape by fight night. But Dave has been inactive he may llok great but time will tell wiether that translates into a great performance. Shane is always in good shape, hes been active, but his hands and cuts concern me. If he breaks his hand s again which im saying he will on Tuas granite chin then can he hold a guy like Tua off him especailly if it happens early? He busted his hand against Robert Davis which allowed Davis to put up a better fight than predicted, but Davis is no David tua. Camerons chin is also a question, he has been wobbled by Terry Smith who is not a puncher and I'll be interested to see how he goes if Dave lands big early on. Shanes heart and grit are not in questio he has HUGE heart as displayed in a losing effort to Friday Ahunanya I think he has the heart to survive some early Tua exchanges but how much will it effect him later on in the fight. David is a patient fighter also, he wont mind waiting till the latter rounds after breaking shane up a bit, but having said that how will Dave operate in the late rounds if the early ones are set at a frantic pace? So many questions so many different answers. Only Sat night will answer them. i feel like i like Daves experience counts for alot, hes been to the BIG stage before hes fought in front of thousands, hes no newcommer to this type of event. For Shane its his real first outing in a show of this magnitude that counts for alot in my mind. I think David is as hungary as i have ever seen him, this is up there with his World title fight and i think it means almost as much to him as a lose here hes done, a win and hes maybe just one more fight away from a Title fight!
Entertainment Value: 10/10
Result: Tua TKO6

Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
this is better than the mundines undercard where they only get 4rounds.
Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
Ummm I've got heaps of one liners here but i can't get them out in to written text.isabella wrote:this is better than the mundines undercard where they only get 4rounds.
Everything is better than Mundines undercard, if you asked Mundine about his undercards even he would say they shite.
Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
Great post N2Shape, I can see things unfolding a little differently in 1 or 2 fights but am mostly in agreement.
I heard this mornin Tua is down to a positively svelte 105kg!

Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
Was at the press conference today very timid affair. Tuas aunty was killed in the tsunami that hit Samoa today!!!
He's Looking VERY good the trimmest I have seen him in a LONG time but hopefully that hasnt sucked the power out of him! Speaking with his sparring partner Israel Garcia it has hurt his power one bit says if anything hes stronger because hes faster now!

Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
Is it creating problems with Tauasa's & Kwadjo's travel, or are they already in NZ??N2 Shape wrote:Was at the press conference today very timid affair. Tuas aunty was killed in the tsunami that hit Samoa today!!!

Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
Good to hear!!! I've been a little worried that he moght've drained the last bit too fast, I heard a week or so ago that he was 110kg, now 105kg...N2 Shape wrote:Sorry my bad, my typing is getting shocking of late!!!!

Sad to hear about David and his families loss, sounds like he's not letting it get in the road of the fight though?

All good- yeah it was so jam packed hardly any room to move! see you at weigh in.
Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
n2shape your boy max is on a massive decline man, what happened??? i thought this would have been an easy fight for him?
Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
Just real quick until i have enough time to elaborate.......I think Max still won landed the better scoring shots, Mensah threw more punches but not may were actually landing Max was picking them off. Having said that Max didnt give me or Moyoyo for that matter ANY offence! I was very disappointed with that. Hes upset about losing but in my mind you cant be to upset when you really didnt push the fight and MAKe the judges score rounds in your favour.
Anyway more on that latter

Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
I know you've invested time into Max N2 shape, but Mensah is below par and you would have to start to think that Max's heart is really not in it.
The guy was a pretty good fighter going back a couple of years, but 5 in a row.....

Re: Tua VS Cameron and the undercard
I said to Max before this fight that I wanted to see him at Light-Heavyweight, we obviousl ytook the Mensah fight because it should have been a fairly comfortable win for him. Mensah is slow and sloppy but can be very awkward at the same time. Having said that Max just wasnt busy enough I kept telling him before rounds he need to get busier. I think we won 4 rounds to 2 still and a Ud in Mensahs favour was a joke. Perhaps repaying him for the shocker that occured in his last fight. Max clearly landed the better shots, and in actuall punches landed he was landing 3 to 1. Mensah was certainly busier and the aggressor and that probably blinded the judges a bit, If your scoring a fight purely on aggression he won, but shouldnt a fight be scored o nwho actually lands the scoring shots?
Max doesnt belong at Cruiserweight, He should be fighting at Light-Heavy, only time will tell if hes dedicated enough to make the committment to get to that weight. Hes a little gunshy fighting these bigger guys, and not so keen to let his hands go, I think he still has fights left in him but at Light-Heavy.
