Manny Pacquiao`s press-up style

Post by tonyevs »

I just seen a pic of the pacman doing press-ups ... they look a lot different to how I`ve ever seen them done before.
On the knuckles, on some sort of platform .. but never seen anybody doing them balancing on a stick before. They have got to be the best type.

That's one of those wheel rollers isn't it? So you can keep your arms straight and roll the wheel out in front of you or do them normally and you have the extra effort of stopping the wheel from rolling.

You too can train like manny for £7.99 and a visit to Argos

I can do them one handed :TU:

Looks to me like he is balancing on a rod, that is again balanced on a dumbell.

He's learning how to fall properly, for when Cotto unscrews his head.

It's a slightly different principal.

He's working the shoulders/deltoids/triceps more for stability.

I tried it at the gym and hit my forehead on the dumbell after my shoulder gave out.

Note to self - You are not a prizefighter.

Pah, there is a chap from my neck of the woods that has held the world record on numerous occasions for doing the most one fingered press ups!!!

These are just an abdominal exercise/gimic. Nothing to do with the press ups that Pac is doing. The version that pac is doing is geared toward core strength but will also build up the muscles in the rotator cuff (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor and subscapularis). Its a much more functional form than traditional deltoid exercises.

yeah, i see that now i was looking at it on a dodgy screen earlier today, i can see that it's a rod on a dumbell now. I don't get how it exercises anything extra than your forearms though as it seems they're just normal press ups but you have to maintain a grip at the same time.

But Manny seems to prepare fairly well for his fights so who am i to question it.

Give it a try and see how it feels. He's also got a bosu ball under his feet to add instability.

It exercises all the core muscles in the chest and around the spine, as you have to maintain stability whilst doing the exercise.
