Best and worse of Audley(spoiler)

Post by lurkyshaka »

Clear to see last night. Tentative, low work ethic and looked flustered when under attack. But when he opens up he's different class, fast powerful, accurate and fluid.

In every fight he displayed both the good and bad, he was actually in danger of letting Barrett outwork him, until he decided he should actually punch back. He could have finished that fight within 20 seconds had he just let his hands go from the start.

But i think it has to be borne in mind that he was losing one of his Olympic fights, before finally putting his foot the the floor and stopping the opponent. This is a problem he's always had.

He'll be remembered as one of the most frustrating British fighters ever.

He definetly has the talent but is scared to get hit and is so tentative he cant fight under pressure at all. He has the physical attributes to be top class but Mentally he isnt near that level he's too scared to take a punch

He needs confidence. A good jab and confidence plus his speed skills etc he could possibly win the British, commonwealth and the European. World? Against the right opponent but he needs confidence and I am not sure he has it. Good luck though!

I don't think he has all the skills and talent in the world, but he certainly has more talent than his achievements as a pro suggest.

He was good enough to have worked his way into a title shot at some stage with careful promoting and based on some awful challengers we have seen over the years, but his chances of doing that now are long gone.
He should try and land a British Title shot. I think thats the extent of his genuine ambitions thesedays.

He has the physical skills but doesn't seem to believe in them - why I have no idea but he seemed to respond to the yells from his trainer between rounds!

Audley's mind has always been his main downfall in my eyes.

think he's got worst from what he was :!: even more tentative then ever.optring to grab out then throw his shots coz he's petrified of getting hit, everytime pressure gets put on him he gets easily disorganised, with thel torrence yelling dont wait repeatedly.

I agreed with jonnie nelson assesment. He needs to show the skills at a higher level. Knocking out novice fighters should be like shelling peas to audley. But in saying that you can only beat what is in front of you. I thought he did well played to his strength. However he will never have the class to fight for a world title. But he can at least bow out with some pride, if he gets a british, commonwealth and maybe a european title. He is more than capable of doing this.

Prize fighter highlight how crap our domestic heavy weight scene is. Overweight, unfit and no clue. I long for the days of Bruno et al

hes marketable, People either want to see him lose or a small number want to see him achieve his dream. I thought he came across well in his winning interview. Putting the trophy up for raffle to help the sprott clan was a good touch. And might yet win him some fans.

Actually, I would give Audley a chance against these. I think Sosnowski out works him.

Harrison has proven throughout his career that it takes more than ability to make it as a pro. He really should have made it to European and world level and have mixed in that company for much of his career. I thought pizefighter was a joke last night to be honest. Harrision shouldn't be anywhere near a competition like that, but his mental frailty means that is the only level that he can successfully operate at. He's got a terrible fear of being hit and it always ends up landing him in trouble. He refuses to back his ability in the ring and will always struggle with any boxer who comes at him and has a crack, no matter how poor they are.

Out of the three fights Harrison had, I thought he was more positive in the 2nd. He is horrible to watch because he is frightened of being hurt. This is Harrisons level and its daft to talk about being a future World champion. As soon as he steps up again he will lose.

Vidoz and Sosnoswki are fighting for the vacant belt. Audley has a chance against either, and remember he really bashed Vidoz up in the Olympics.

He has always had decent skills and all the physical attributes. Imagine if only Audley and Evander had gone to a wizard and had their minds put into each others bodies just before AH turned pro...
Holyfield's battered body would be 8 years into a long deserved recovery and we'd a British, southpaw, heavyweight Tommy Hearns on our hands.

audley was amazing in 2 early rounds- did everything right but in final he went negative until just before the knock down i think it adds credance to my theory that he could be a world chamop if a match only went 6 rounds

Beat Skelton to win the title..................wait a minute....sorry thats the EBU-EU title! Whatever that is! I could have sworn the full EBU title was on the line......ah well. Just shows theres far too many titles floating about.

I always thought he lacked confidence in himself despite his talk. If he was as confident as he always professed himself to be he would have been looking to make significant strides in a poor heavyweight division in 2003/2004 IMO.

Having said that I was pleased to see him get some sort of redemption on Friday. He's not going to set the world on fire and he's often been his own worst enemy but some of the vitriol directed against him leaves a bad taste for me.

is hearn gonna promote him for a few fights now then or what?

Skelton was Euro champ when he fought Rogan, but that was a non-Euro title fight, so Skelton was stripped of the belt for having lost to a European boxer on a championship distance fight.

Sosnowski and Vidoz are now fighting for the vacant strap.
