Stoke to stage world title fight

Post by The_Don1 »

The IBO title fight that is http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/8291386.stm

I thought there were rumours about this one supposed to be taking place at the MEN?

It would never have happened at the MEN, I'd have thought the Altrincham Leisure Centre was more likely. Still, that place is only 10 minutes away from where I'm living at uni, so I'll probably make the trip.

It's not a world title, not even close. It's just a nice shiney belt Ricky is hoping to give his brother for christmas.
He may as well make it for the vacant WBU belt, while he's at it. That would really send the BBC reporter into overdrive.

Ridiculous. Turns down the likes of Ross Minter, Jennings and Brook and expects us to
buy this nonsense. Beaten by Craig Watson and earns a 'world' title shot.

Can't wait to hear the Sky take on it, bearing in mind their policy of these titles.

Watch the others follow suit and welcome back the IBO, WBU, WBF.

The fight in itself is a good match up so it should not be main event. I agree I rather see Mcluskey fight that week with Rogan the week before. Who got the 27th of Nov sky date?

well, they accepted it for your boss, did they not?

wasn't it nonsense when warren promoted those type of fights?

this is obviously the best that matthew hatton can get - maybe it's just wicky doing it for matthew, an exception perhaps. he can't win a proper "traditional" belt, so he has to go for a fringe belt.

look at fighters who can deliver, like macklin (british and european titles in consecutive fights), who obviously don't need that kind of rubbish.

Exactly. I've been a fan of the HP set up but he needs to knock these sort of quotes on the head. It's like the idiot's guide to boxing promoting.

Why?

I hate bogus world titles as much as the next boxing fan and granted he will always be in the shadow of Ricky and associated with a lot of idiot fans but he is a decent UK-euro level boxer. I thought he boxed very well against Ben Tackie who is a very tough guy and I would be happy to see him in with Watson again, Jennings and Brook should he win his next fight.

Get M'baye fight moved back one week and Rogan-Sexton on TV if the Hatton fight is off. C'mon Sky, we want to see Rocky Rogan avenging his defeat

Seems strange the Ndou pulls out a day after he talks so positively about defending about a comebacking Phillip Holiday (big fight in Oz that will be), but I trust 26 sources.

Good move for Hatton promotions this!!!

Stoke sell tickets through a couple of fighters - so the venue will be full and the atmosphere good for TV.
