[quote="forcefraser Let`s be honest, who would`nt have guts for the kind of coin he was earning.

Man of the people? 50,000 people turn up to see a borefest against Lazcano?? Not really "paying the fans back"

Let`s not even get into the Dollar for pounds episode for the Vegas tickets (NO - 1 dollar does not equal 1 pound).

I don`t want to have a go at Hatton, cos most people would do the same in his shoes. However, let`s not get carried away here.

He beat an over the hill Tzyu, a well over the hill Castillo, got lucky against Collazo, was outclassed by Mayweather and destroyed by Pacman.

His best win was over Urango. Urango can fight a bit, but it`s not enough to claim greatness.

Anyway, forget all that, I want to know more about the gimp show in Flint Islands shed![/quote]

Exactly Hatton even now is still in the top 5 Jr welterweights in the world without a doubt, and possibly still the second best in the world.

Skills and ability wise he was a decent little fighter, but the way he sold himself to the man in the street, transcended the sport and perhaps made himself apear to be a greater fighter than in fact he was for a period of time was wonderful management. Allot of that he did off his own back both in the beggining drumming supporters and after he hit the big time with various media work and appearances. Imagine if Pacquaio had turned out to be too small/weak at 140lbs, he'd have us (well some of us) believing that he's P4P no1 and rematching Mayweather (which May said he would have gone for if Ricky won)
For me, the honour you mention goes to Calzaghe.... a brilliantly managed career. He has the mystique now that he "could have" beaten the best.... reality it probably no chance. Hatton doesn't have this now.
Except Ricky Hatton has 10-20 times more in the bank than a certain Mr Calzaghe by all accounts and is a beloved national celebrity. I know who'd shoes I'd rather be in

calzaghe isnt exactly poor and won sports personality of the year an award voted for by the public to be fair to him.

Yeah way. Hatton wouldn't make it out of the first few rounds. It would be worse than the Pacman KO too. Judah knocked PBF down!! Rocked Cotto early and generally throws dynamite and is the fastest ONE PUNCH thrower of his generation (faster with single shots than Floyd or Pac imo).

Hatton would be walked straight onto a huge uppercut, a la Cosme Rivera, or be taken out with a huge straight left, a la Jaime Rangel.

Easy work for Judah. If you look at the Baldomir fight highlights on youtube, check out the CHIN of Baldomir. He got nailed with huge punches, which would have seen Ricky sprawled onto the canvas struggling to breathe, as we saw when Pacman connected.

Lets see a southpaw who's as fast as Pacquaio, hits like a mule, is trickier than Pacquaio but less disciplined. Judah always was a prodigy who didn't quite fulfill his potential, he might have had even more potential than a certain Mr Mayweather

Judah-Hatton would have been a corker actually, if Hatton gets out the first 5 he might wear Judah down, but in his prime Judah worked at a pretty decent pace for 12 himself

Whats all this bollocks about

Hatton faced the best thats why he got beat

Joe ducked anyone serious thats why he stayed unbeaten

Like as if really Hatton and Calzaghe were on the same level

Complete Bollocks

Joe fought and unfied the whole WBO / IBF / WBC / IBF division

He also fought a better than ever Bernard Hopkins and still held his own with the modern great

Calzaghe was way better than Hatton ever was

Hatton was a overachiever

Joe just achieved what he looked like he could do - prove himself the best at Super Middleweight in the World and then some

Joe Calzaghe was a much better fighter than Ricky Hatton...................easy judgement to make :TU:

As much as I hate Calzaghe and hope he comes back and gets beaten, he was better than Hatton by miles.
