Have a horrible feeling this fight is going to fall through any day now. Since when did Sports Network risk a young unbeaten fighter like this?

barnes is very overrated. he only just beat journeyman brice faradji in preston(i was there). A last round knockdown saved him. He cant fight coming forward and with hare he will have to. Also, he not very hard to hit and too be fair he beaten no-one of note - the best guy he beat(jimy vincent) actually beat him if u remember.

Can't wait for this one, I would have tipped Hare as heavy favourite but I remember some people here posting that Barnes, who has never impressed me, would take it. That kinda muddled my vision of the fight and I see it now as up for grabs. We'll see what happens on fight night.

Late stoppage for Hare I think, if not then a pretty wide points decision. I can see Barnes winning the first few rounds and then Hare taking over.

Gotta favour Hare, better all around. Barnes' strength has to be the factor in his favour, but Hare is the sharper combination puncher and has more class I think.

I haven't changed my mind since the last Hare vs Barnes thread. Barnes on points. I haven't got any reasoning, in fact looking at it logically Hare should be too good. The only real advantage for Barnes is that he has a slightly higher workrate. I'll go for Barnes to shade it, because it's just a little feeling i have.

Sportinglife:

BARNES READY FOR HARE By Derek Bilton

David Barnes is confident he will retain his British welterweight title against James Hare on November 12.
The Manchester stylist faces Hare at the Northbridge Leisure Centre in Halifax in a genuine 'trade' fight that could go either way.
A win for Barnes will see him earn a Lonsdale belt outright after having already made two successful defences against Kevin McIntyre and Glen McLarnon.

Speaking ahead of the fight, the affable Barnes said: "I have not underestimated Hare one bit.
"I have prepared for this fight like no other and firmly believe I will be the winner.
"I respect Hare, he's a good fighter and nice fella out of the ring but I'm going in there to do my job which is to win the fight and if the knockout comes then all the better."

Barnes, who began punching for pay in 2001 and who is presently 15-0 ,continued: "Winning the British title last year was my dream since I started boxing as an amateur and the other one was to win it outright.
"I'm close to achieving that now with only one more obstacle to overcome. I've got future ambitions but I'm not looking at them until I've got Hare out of the way.
"I've watched Hare for a long time and I know how to beat him. It's a fight that I have wanted for a long time and one that the public have called for.
"In this fight you will see the best of me and I'm looking forward to showing that I am the number one in Britain."

Hare, a former WBF 'world' welterweight title holder, is 30-0 (16) as a pro and suffered his only defeat at the hands of Cosme Rivera back in December.
Chief support on the card features the rematch between Manchester's 'Magic' Matthew Hatton and Barnsley's Rob Burton for the Central Area Welterweight title.

Hot light-middleweight prospects Thomas McDonagh and Matthew Hall from Manchester will also feature on what looks a decent bill.

Barnes at 5/1 on points look good value here. I think he'll do it.
