Do Fighters annoying fans turn you off a fighter?

Post by thepocketrocket »

I am a bit of a forum veteran(sad twonk) though I havent been here in a ages! Numerous times I have found myself getting pissed off with bandwagon members who insult other fighters. I go on to get hope their fighter gets smashed even though they may be British!

Junior Witter was one! When The Hatton-Witter fued was on we had to put up with Hatton being called awful names daily. When Witter got beaten against Bradley I took my gf out for a meal to celebrate! :OhYes:

Latterley when Dunne won his world title I got peeved with the abuse Munroe fans gave him. Part of me now wantes to see him get smashed by Maludrottu!

So do you get your head turned by these anticts or are you more mature than me???

The dreaded chorus of 'There's ooooonly oooooone [whoever he is]!!!' sung by whichever fighter's fans has me wishing I had a machine gun handy to blast the fuckers into whatever hinterland/wonderland from whence the tossers came! Really annoying.

I would put it down to the fact that you are very, very immature. :OhYes:

Seriously though, it doesn't bother me and the reason it doesn't is that they are in the public eye and they get paid well. As he counts his £20 million pound fortune, I'm sure that Hatton doesn't give a f**k about what some inbred from Leamington Spa says about him on a website. And for that reason nor do I!

Not mocking the Chester fans, but I went to watch Kev Buckley against Mo Khaled. They sang, One Kevin Buckley.....then they tailed off into singing winter wonderland as they had no idea how to change the words accordingly!!! It was cringeworthy!!

Not particularly, Bernard Dunne fans are irritating but I enjoy watching Dunne fight because he is without question an exciting and gutsy fighter win or lose. I like Amir Khan too but his fans are a bunch of hooligans.

Well my credentials speak for themselves!! :D

Look at the Walsh boys, their racist fans have me loathing them by proxy. Maybe its a character thing, but I'm sure i'm not on my own!!

That of course doesnt blind me to talent, and I of course respect anyone who steps in the ring!

Agreed. I've no problem with Dunne but his fans on message boards seem pretty dumb and annoying so I was happy to see him beaten.

Great post Mark!

This is what i am talking about. The first time I saw this live(in a large fashion) was when I was in the Braehead arena anxiously awaiting Wayne McCullough schooling the immobile Jock Scott Harrison. On the undercard AAA was fighting Patrick malinga and after a good start malinga was beginning to look like he had shot his bolt! The Scottish fans in the cheaper seats behind me(I had bought top dollar for Waynes great night) started singing 'its too fcking easy' Peter Harrison storms out of the corner, shouts at a group just in front, questioning whether it was them. Terrified they pointed to the block who were doing the chanting. Harrison storms over and tells the to 'show some fcking respect'.

Today sadly these idiots are the norm!

Munroe's out on the bins at 6 30 in the morning. He combines this with being European champion. He grafts like a trooper, and from what I've seen in interviews, although I don't know the man I like what I see. :shame:

He is clearly making a point about his fans, not Monroe himself

Clearly Munroe, or Monroe, as you would have him, is not his fans. Which means wanting his to "get smashed" on the back of some of his fans' antics is CLEARLY inappropriate. Good grief.

Doesn't bother me that much, but did chuckle when i was watching the Murray v Thaxton coverage, and the cameras kept showing a bunch of men in the top corner of the arena, when it cut back to them just before the fight , the main one shouting had taken his top off!!

Can someone explain to me what thats all about?

it happens at loads of football matches as well, is it trying to intimidate the opposing fans?

Yes. Geoff Mcreesh's fans at the Docklands when he fought Adrian Stone on the Lewis-Botha undercard were complete pikey drunk twats and I always wanted him to lose thereafter which was a shame as i think he retired

Yes I agree with that when a fighter's fans start slagging off other fighters that puts me off them
