Which fights were your most eagerly anticipated? Please list one fight from your life time and why you feel it emant so much. Then list one that was eagerly anticipated that didn't come off.

I'd have to say it was probably Hagler-Hearns for me. I was totally caught up in that one. Worst thing was I went on a trip to Italy and had to avoid the result for a week. Got home at midnight, after having prayed the old betamax had recorded the fight, and loved everything about it.

Lewis-Bowe was probably my biggest disappointment. After Lewis blew Ruddock away it looked like a really great fight that was all set to happen...

I was really looking forward to those fights so much, but Tyson let me down twice; first by getting whupped by Douglas & secondly, by getting into trouble with the law.

He let you down three times, you forgot the rib injury.

Co sign with Ezzard on hagler/Hearns, you just knew they were going to war and the electricity in the audience was second to none.

As for disappointments, not getting to see Holyfield smash Tyson is up there but strangely enough I have to give the same answer to both questions.

In 82 Tommy & marvin were scheduled, there was no internet then so when I flipped on HBO to watch the fight is when I found out it was cancelled. I may have wept. Also when Leonard came back and ruined the rematch that was set up by hagler/Mugabi & Hearns/Shuler.

Holmes-Cooney in 82. I was 15 years old and had been a huge Cooney fan since '79. I liked Holmes, too, but Cooney was my man. He was a disappointment, too, not for the Holmes fight that he over-apologized for, but for never really getting his career on track after that.

There wasn't much Cooney could've done. Holmes held the title for a few more years, so Cooney, even if he had turned around & bested the top contenders, would --- at best --- find himself in-line for another title shot he couldn't win.

Still, that's all better than what actually happened. Somehow, he still managed a return against Spinks, &, had he held it together, who knows? Maybe if Cooney were in identical physical & mental shape for Spinks as he were for Holmes, we might be talking about him as a past Heavyweight champion.

He would definitely have to avoid getting hit with 80 out of 90 power shots in about 120 seconds. that wouldn't serve you well against Laila Ali.

My brother is 10 years older than me. When Tyson was dropped in the sixth, he was gutted, shouting Tyson will NOT win this fight now!

A Tyson fight was electric. I was pretty excited about Tyson-Lewis, but I knew deep down Tyson didn't have a chance! The fact he lasted until the eighth shows how durable he was!

Guys, in terms of the most anticipated bout of all time, surely it has to be Ali-Frazier 1?

Ali Foreman was probably almost as anticipated ...those two have some of the top honors for sure.

I was only 4 at the time, if I was older I would certainly have been rooting for Larry. But Cooney showed a hell of alot in that fight against an all time great heavyweight.
I remember watching him ko'd by Spinks when I was young, so I was really surprised when I watched the Holmes fight for the first time about 4 years ago.

The first big fight I remember was Tyson-Bonecrusher. That was going to be an absolute classic slugfest............
On a slightly similar note to Cooney, I expected Tony Tucker to figure in the picture after he lost to Tyson.
