Either he's taking a pop just to stoke things up(most obvious one) or he's as thick as pigshit.

Nah, I think he's intelligent but maybe not so aware of Froch's achievements. However, take away Carl's last two fights and he has fought no-one at world level.

Yeah...but who has Dirrell fought? No-one close to a Pascal or a Taylor and yet he's being heralded as the second coming by the myopic American press?

It's interesting that Boxing Monthly view it as a mismatch in Froch's favour and the Americans vice versa. Someone's gonna be very wrong come fight night.

Froch is the great intangible. How long til someone can outbox him for 12 rounds. Because the blue-print is set.

However, Froch has massive drive, supreme fitness and limitless self-belief, not to mention a corner he trusts and who know him inside out.

It will take a very slick or incredibly strong fighter to over-come him. And they'll need to go to hell and back to do it. Taylor didn't have it when he looked deep down.

Abraham or Kessler may.

Somehow I doubt Dirrell will, but if he's quick, mobile and has self-belief he'll be a handful for Carl, who gives EVERYONE a chance, even Magee etc who are two steps down from this level.

Either Dirrell is going to look very good or he'll be made to look very stupid, a man of talk & no substance.

Froch descrdibed it best when he said "its sink or swim time for Dirrell now!" I just think Froch's power will prove too big of a factor. Even if Dirrell is outboxing Froch & picking up points, he'll have to be alert for every second of every round because Carl can pull it out of the bag as he showed against Taylor!

Froch better have improved since the Taylor fight - he was getting caught with punch after punch. Ok, so he showed his durability, but his defense needs improving!

meanwhile dirrell is world level simply by being born in america, having some atletic ability and big muscles!

good fight, though.

had to laugh at the drunken englishmen comments. that was bloody good. hope he isn't relying on froch being pish. i hear froch is a clean liver, who doesn't even smoke. ask mcneilly.

How much credit is Froch likely to get out of this contest?
If he loses - none
If he wins, no matter if its by points or Ko - then it`ll still be he beat a over-hyped youngster.

One thing that annoys me is that people still over-hype carls `power` .. he didn`t trouble taylor until taylor was seriously gassed.

Good summing up - for me there is one fighter who could do it and in my view only one - Mikkel Kessler.

Im getting to like Froch,to be honest before he fought Pascal i just thought he was all mouth but he proved me wrong with that display(look what Pascal has gone on to achive)
i dont think Froch has enough power to turn a fight with a single punch no matter what happend in the Taylor fight...
I do believe a good boxer, skillful mover will beat him 9/10

But all the best to you for what your achieved :TU:

While there's a clear difference in styles, I can see a parallel with the Barry McGuigan/Bernard Taylor fight, with Froch falling behind early before catching up with the American slickster in the later rounds.
Unlike some, I do think Froch's power is world-class. He's no Julian Jackson, but he's capable of knocking out the majority of Super Middles.

Froch definitely does have the power to turn a fight on it's head.

I'm sure if their were less writers and more fighters on this board, we'd get some testimony to that.

I've been dropped badly by Carl, but I was only second hardest in my year at school. Let alone in the country or world.

Gomez KO 1 Jermaine Taylor

That article did make me laugh though.

I wonder if 'Drunk Englishmen' will enter the boxing vocabulary like 'roadsweeper' and 'cab driver'

I guess Dirrell has to win for that to happen

Good on the Yanks!!!

Hype the fight!!!

Then its one of them occasions they have generated the interest through a bit of trash talk - and then we can laugh when Froch spanks the yank!!!

I hope they come out with more b*llocks - what will be good is if they get some of this in the Nottingham news or whatever its called to stir up the locals!!! :TU:

That's the big shame about the way a lot of American boxing fans conduct themselves. They'll say Dirrell will beat Froch, and if he doesn't, they'll say he was over hyped. Just like with Lacy and many others.

I think Froch's power will be key in this fight and if he can hurt Dirrell (which I think he can) then he can win via stoppage. If not, then I'm sticking my neck on the line and saying that Dirrell outboxes him over 12 for a decision win.

The key is whether Dirrell can fight away from home and has the discipline to stick to a game plan. Skillwise and speed, I believe, he has the tools for the job.
