Kessler gets WBA shot

Post by REAL_DEAL »

Kessler replaces injured Larsen!
The planned November 12th WBA super middleweight title fight in Copenhagen, Denmark, between Manny Siaca and Mads Larsen is off, due to an injury to Larsen suffered while sparring in Florida. It was announced in the Danish Press that another Dane, unbeaten and top ranked Mikkel Kessler, will accept the fight against Siaca. The Fight has been sanctioned by the WBA and agreed by Don King, promoter of Siaca.

I wonder if Robin Reid put his name up for that fight?

And what is more important, from a danish perspective, is that Larsen will remain as the mandatory challenger for the winner, winner is allowed 1 voluntary defense, so we could have our first ever world title fight between two danes.

You can bet on thsi fight on bet24.com and if you think that Siaca will win (especially on KO) there are good odds. Siaca gives ods 50 in each round for a ko win.

In what order are Larsen, Kessler and Markussen generally rated and why? I get all these Danes confused.

i would rate then as Larsen, Markussen then Kessler.... but i havent seen much of any of them Freiheit should be able to tell us all we need to know.... actually I find it hard to seperate Rudy and Mads.... both pushed Ottke close.. larsen closer although Ottke was that bit older and slower.

Kessler has yet to step up into the big league

I will rate them Kessler then Larsen and a gap down to Markussen. I think both Kessler & Larsen would win on stoppage/wide point decision against Markussen.

As a build up to the fight the TV company behind the PPV shows a daily 5 minute program about Kessler on one of their "free" channels. They have shown his first diploma fight, his first real amateur fight, other amateur fights, regional champioships, when he won euro junior gold ect and now his first couple of pro fights, quite funny to watch his progress.

Is Thomas Damgard ever going to get his world title shot? It must be at least 2 years since he was first scheduled a crack?

I think the next planed date is jan. 22nd on Don Kings card. Its just a payday for Damgaard, he is so shot its not even funny and he will lose to top 50 in the world unless he gets a lucky shot in.

Fridays card will be Mogens Palle's last card because he doesnt have the healt for it anymore. He staged his first card on november 7th 1957 and has promoted around 400 shows. He hopes that his daughter, Bettina, will take over all the business. Team Palle has used around £450K on Kessler vs Siaca alone and should Kessler lose and the money be lost then there will only be very few money left in the company and Team Palle could be forced to pull out of boxing next year.

given the info freiheit as just given us, ie Kessler being better than Markussen and Larsen and the fact that Danish boxing essentially needs a Kessler win to survive. you have to put money on Kessler. I think he is
3-1 or 2-1 on the bet24.com site mentioned earlier
