Taylor was fast and smart, but it didn't do him any good. The question should be has Dirrell got a cast iron and jaw and impeccable stamina?

of course, andre. keep on deluding yourself. when froch wasn't fighting drunken englishmen, he was fighting inbred cavemen. easy win for dirrell, because dirrell has the talent, and dirrell has the american competition.

froch, please knock this plonker out.

I can see Dirrell having his moments though using his speed.
I expect Froch to be behind on the cards but suddenly catch up in about round 8 i reckon.

dirrell calling him a gasbag made me laugh.

not heard that one before.

dirrell will be made to work for it.

but i reckon he's got the talent to outbox froch.

good skills, good wheels, hits hard enough to make froch think twice.

bring it on. :box:

This guy is gong to be in for such a shock when he faces Froch.

I saw Dirrell's fight against Hanshaw and he got hit flush so many times. If someone like Hanshaw can get through to him on a regular basis then imagine what a proven world champion like Froch will be able to do. Dirrell may have fast hands but he is not a big puncher, has a didgy defence and is very inexperienced in comparison to Froch. I genuinely think Froch will get him out of there in the later rounds after a bright start by Dirrell.

Come on Carl, knock this idiot out!!

Froch laughs off Dirrell's Jibes

Post by HS Press »

LONDON (October 9th ,2009) – Carl Froch has laughed off Andre Dirrell’s attempts to rile him ahead of their Super Six World Boxing Classic showdown at the Trent FM Arena, Nottingham on October 17th. Froch will defend his WBC World Super Middleweight title against the undefeated American hotshot who has certainly proved a championships contender in the trash talking stakes.

Speaking as he wrapped up his training camp at the Big Bear resort in California Dirrell blasted Froch saying, “He’s a gasbag. He may have fought southpaws and orthodox style fighters, but he has NEVER fought a switch-hitter like me. I’m going to go Mickey Mantle on him and shoot the works from the moment the bell rings. Mr. Froch can kiss my Yankee Doodle.

“I’ve spent my whole life dreaming of this night when I fight for the world title. Froch has been foaming at the mouth saying how hopeless my chances are against him. Frankly I find his rants tiresome. No wonder Joe Calzaghe didn’t give him a shot.”

Froch however isn’t losing any sleep over Dirrell’s tirade. “By the time I’m finished with him he’ll be more Mickey Mouse than Mickey Mantle,” said the Champion. “He’s coming in to a whole world of trouble getting in a ring with me, in my hometown, in a fight for my title. I keep hearing about how great he is and how much potential he has, well now it’s time for him to step up to the plate. He’s in with the big boys now so it’s time to put up or shut up and I’ve no doubt I’ll be shutting him up. By the time I’m finished with him he’ll understand exactly why Joe Calzaghe didn’t want to get in a ring with me.”

Dirrell is due to arrive in the U.K. this weekend ahead of the bout and his promoter Gary Shaw is confident that his man has what it takes to dethrone Froch and emerge victorious in the Super Six tournament. “Andre is considered the dark horse of this tournament and that’s just fine with us,” said Shaw. “No one gave him a chance against Victor Oganov (28-1, 28 KOs), or Anthony Hanshaw (21-1-1, 14 KOs), and he had an early night with both of them, knocking them out in the sixth and fifth rounds, respectively. I have no doubt Andre will be the new WBC super middleweight champion on October 17 and I have no doubt Andre will be in the finals of this illustrious tournament.”

The October 17th bout will be screened live on pay per view in the UK and Ireland on new satellite channel Primetime (Sky channel 480) as part of a knockout Super Six tournament double header from Nottingham and Berlin. The tournament officially kicks off in Germany when former marquee Middleweight Champs Arthur Abraham and Jermain Taylor clash at The O2 World Arena in Berlin before the action moves to Froch’s hometown and the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham.

To watch the opening night of the Super Six tournament on Primetime (Sky channel 480) call 0871 200 4444 (+448702 416 666 from the Republic of Ireland) or see http://www.primetimelive.co.uk. The event is available at a special price of £12.95 until 24 hours before the fight after which it will then increase to £14.95.

Primetime will build up to the event by screening Froch’s previous two world title fights, his twelve round thriller with Jean Pascal to win the WBC title and his sensational final round KO over Jermain Taylor in the U.S. in April. The fights will be broadcast from 7-10pm on Primetime each night leading up to the Super Six tournament double header on October 17th. Primetime will also broadcast FIGHT CAMP 360°: Inside The Super Six World Boxing Classic, a new reality series that will give fight fans unprecedented access into the lives of the Super Six tournament participants.

Tickets for Froch V Dirrell are available from the Trent FM Arena, Nottingham Box Office priced £30, £45, £125 and £400. To purchase tickets call the Box Office on 08444 124 624 or visit http://www.trentfmarena.co.uk. Tickets are also available from Ticketline on 0844 888 4402 or via http://www.hennessysports.com.

Take both sides with a pinch of salt. All above board bravado with no deep rooted nastiness is tickety boo.

No way is this Calz/Lacy though, Dirrel can move his feet.

Gonna be a cracker, both take shots too easily. Will come down to desire and chin.

Yes but Witter does himself no favours with his lazyness in fights. There is no way Froch will make the same mistake.

Is Dirrell's amateur experience the vital factor he makes out?

Dirrell is in for a rude awakening next Saturday night. Froch will jump on him from the get go and apply the pressure.

I hope he gets the job done early as the last thing he needs is another 12 round war. I love Froch`s fights. Pure entertainment.

Eh? Since the fight is on television I think it's safe to say that Hennessy has been negotiating with TV companies.

i'm obviously pleased we've got the choice (unless your virgin media customers).

he should have secured a major network for this though.

if froch was maloney, hatton, hearn or warren he'd have got on sky.

guaranteed more viewers on sky.

always a press release to enjoy mind. 8)

Obviously they're contracted to Sky.... where as Micks broadcasters have dumped boxing

If Sky turn the fight down then it's Skys fault, what's Mick going to do put a BIG red bow on it? Your anger/frustration should be directed towards ITV and Sky not Mick

Dirrell probably is the fastest guy Froch has fought but Taylor is smarter I see it being similiar to the Taylor fight Dirrell outboxing him early building up a big lead then Froch coming on strong but I think Andre will hold on and win on points :TU:

Sky will almost certainly have asked for exclusivity, Virgin will therefore have to negotiate with sky to get the feed.

Same, Froch's tactics should revolve around being in touch with 4 or 5 rounds to go.

Anything else will be a bonus, he can't go in too confident and rely on Dirrell not being able to take his shots. Rob McCracken will have him in the fight frame of mind for the fight tho.
