Scott Lawton V Derry Mathews

Post by 15829 »

its on the boxrec schedule intresting match up thought derry would get a couple of easy fights then go in with some the better domestic fighters think derry will out box lawton and dont think lawton will have the power to trouble derry, but if its close cant see derry getting the descion as its in stoke

Didn't see this matchup coming. Lawton's got a good chance of beating Derry at Lightweight.

Not sure if this will work for Lawton at this stage of his career. If the fight is actually contracted at 9st 4lb and Lawton weighs in at this weight, i'd then have to favour Matthews.

interesting match up, fair play to Hatton to put his new signings together in their first outing under the HP banner. One coming up in weight, the other coming down - its a must win fight for both really given Derry's lost his last 3 out of 4 and Lawton's in the last chance saloon in terms of getting another British title shot at a new weight. I'd favour Mathews as I reckon he'll deal with the weight change better, plus Lawton doesn't have KO power so I can't see Derry's chin being troubled too much.

Good luck to you mate if you win this you'll be right back in the mix. Do you feel a lot stronger at Super Feather

Good luck Derry, I hope you can get into the domestic mix at super-feather. Mitchell, Burns, Johannasen coming back - looks exciting.

Can I ask what you think the problem has been with KO's recently, Choi, Martin Lindsay and harry Ramagoadi in your last 4 fights. Is it a weight issue?

Choi was a monster in the ring and will stop plenty more people at the level. Lindsay's shot would have downed an elephant and Ramagoadi was a ref error (although Derry will prob be able to clear it up).

I completely agree - however it will be a close one - a very good fight to be made and will be an enjoyable watch.

this is a really good matchup, as long as they aren't asking Lawton to get down below LW in weight

where is this being held (no offence to derry but if i was Scott, i wouldn't fancy my chances of a points win in liverpool  )?

i dont no to tell u the truth mate my weight as been up and down over the last few years sometimes i made 9st easy and others i strugled whan i boxed mathew marsh i weighed 8 12 so my body was all over the place , but now i have teamed up with a dieticion and strength coach so things will be lookin good for me at super feel big and strong been doin weights and strenth work for some time now so think u will see best of me at this weight

, against choi i was just beat by a better man on the night , against lindsay i was winning fight and got caught by great shot , gainst ramagodi the ref was a joke i thought but at the end of the day i hold my hand up and say i shouldnt of been of the canvas in the first place and should of got straight back up ,,,, but u learnr from mistakes and i beleive and my team beleive il be back bigger better stronger ,,,,,,,,,,,, cheers derry
