I don't think enough is being made of the potential size difference here. Isn't Hunter a colossal super bantam and Booth more of a super fly?

nope.

too many couch experts getting in on this one. What, you think Booth is a fckin angel? All this Hunter one dimensional bollocks. Go ask the 3 or 4 lads he STOPPED on route to the Lonsdale belt, or the 3 or 4 h stopped winning and defending the Euro...suddenly he's a one dimensional slugger. Utter nonsense. What's Booth, Muhammad F. Ali??
Look, its obvious your a big supporter of Hunter but the fact is that he was managed/promoted right to the Lonsdale belt even. Hunter (although no question he won them) struggled in 3 fights againts Anthony Hanna, struggled againts Gennadiy Delisandru, got an undeserved draw v Marc Callaghan, won the vacant Lonsdale belt v a weight drained Mark Payne, struggled, hurt and pushed to the limit in a rematch v Callaghan in a title fight (one of fights of year, which shows he didn't have it all his own way), dropped heavy x2 by Pickering before clawing it back, then later in his career he sat it out on a count for the big one, the fight that would have sealed his career....The point Im trying to make is Hunter didn't/doesn't have great ability or punch, he had great heart and will. It was his heart and will which got him through certain fights, the struggle againts Delisandru, even his 3rd fight v Hanna, the toe to toe war in rematch with Callaghan, getting of the floor after heavy knockdowns againts Pickering to battle on. Hunter could not find that heart and will to get of his knee and continue when he was able to. Im not discrediting Hunter, far from it. I just think that a time comes in a fighters career when that desire stops, the heart doesn't want it as much and the will is gone, not what it used to be and that I feel was Hunters main weapon and without his main weapon I dont see him beating Booth.

Payne didn't fight "weight drained IMO" he fought a bloody hard fight.
As for the draw I never saw it but Hunter has spoken of it with disbelief.
Pickerings put downs were not huge (as I thought at the time), but rather flash KDs on a cold chin. He was going for them later in the fight but without the success.
I didn;t follow Hunter's entire career so won't comment as though I did. I saw virtually all of his championship fights, I think the notion that he bottled it against Molitor is a bit derrogatory tbh.
I don't know what the outcome will be next week if I did I could make a fortune, but I think Hunter will win before 11 rounds are up.

Yeah, Hunter is simply a one dimensional fighter and will be coming forward doing the same things. He is not special in any area, pretty average overall. Booth is a MUCH better boxer and should be able to work Hunter over. It shouldn't be a competitive fight. I expect Booth to come in with a solid gameplan and be prepared entirely for Hunters game. It's not a mystery as to how Hunter will go about the job. How people think he can beat a boxer like Booth is beyond me.

Booth wouldn't have lived with Hunter 3 years ago. Fact.
Did a chunk of Booth's career go AWOL with alcoholism?......yeah let's ignore that and focus on shot to sh*t Mike...
I'm a big Jason Booth fan, he fights a good fight , talks a good fight and ALWAYS comes across well. I'm a fan of Mike too.
It's cretinous frankly how one-sided the forum is on this fight. You'd think that Booth was the bloody second coming of Sugar Ray Leonard. Get real.

The leg humping of Hunter by NEBF in this thread is cringeworthy, you would think it was the second coming of Sugar Ray Leonard.

NEBF- we get your points.

don't you have to accept though- until Hunter PROVES that he still has the ability in the ring- and for me personally i will only accept that he can still do the weight without it affectinghim when i see him go 8 or 10 hard rounds- until this is PROVEN, you are effectively shouting on a favourite fighter of yours, BUT ONE WHO HASN'T BEATEN A DECENT FIGHTER IN HOW LONG?

sorry to shout mate but lets check his recent record shall we? (and yes i did have to boxrec this going back a bit):

last fight he won 8 rds vs Osman Aktas who was 33-14-5. that was december 08 a year ago nearly

then february 08 Youssef al Hamidi 3-6-1 in 6 rounds 9don't give me the Youssef better than his record suggests line please because we are talking about a fighter in Hunter who according to you is nailed-on british level... it's just that he hasn't actually PROVEN this recently

then before that march 07, Ben Odamattey 13-6-2

before that Molitor

before that Tuncay Kaya 23-10-4

now to me Booth's recent record of Moran Rocky dean and Sean Hughes isn't exactly a murderer's row, but i don't think you can argue the following:

Hunter has one fight in the past 12 months and only 3 in the last two and a half years

and none of these fighters were remotely Booth's level.

true or not?

oh and to return to my weightmaking hobbyhorse:

Hunter hasn't made 122lbs since the molitor fight 3 years ago. and we all know it was never easy for him in the first place for me inactivity and weightmaking are two huge factors against Hunter and if i hear that he has been at the weight for weeks one more time (like that is always a good thing, like there haven't been hundreds of fighters who haven't left half their vitality in the gym in the form of weight sweated off in pools).....

what pisses me off is not the counter arguments, it's the way Hunter is getting derided. Trash talked even. It's not so much about him, it could be anyone, it's just hypocritical people who've never done it, biggin' someone up one day then trash talking them the next.

Do people also forget Hunter QUIT against Molitor. Shaking his head and looking at his corner. All in front of his home fans too...

I'm actually with you on this one fella. As a completely impartial observer I do feel some of the baiting and goading over Hunter has gone too far.
Hunter's always been a decent pro who's given a hell of a lot of value in his performances, so there's simply no need to run him down in the manner some of you are. And as for NEBF's opinion, it's just someone leaping to the defence of a fighter they clearly are a fan of and want to believe in - well f**k me what a crime
If you'd asked me a week ago who I wanted to win I wouldn't have had a preference, but after reading some of the bollocks that's been written on here since then I'm sincerely hoping Hunter is able to turn back the clock and emerge with the win.

Hunter had a bad time with personal problems. That and the loss to Molitor were devastating blows that made him a shadow of his former self. TBH I think he has the skills and the stamina still, but I am not sure about his state of mind. He can box and he loves a tear up so if he can clear his mind of those things, and fight the way he used to, he can beat Booth. Booth is a very clever boxer but he isnt a one punch finisher so Hunter can take chances. If Hunter goes in aggressively, I can see him stopping Booth midway.

IF Hunter has sorted the mental side of things out, and gets off to a solid start, the crowd will be going ballistic. Needs that rapid start badly though imo.

Surprised at how many people are hating on Hunter. His scraps with Payne, Callaghan and Pickering were all belters. Double ABA champion. British, Commonwealth and European champ as well. And when all comes to all he was sh*t. Can't wait for Friday. Hartlepool's finest going to shock a few.

well if I hadn't had my fingers well and truly burned on O'Connor-gate I might be tempted. I didn't have time to regret the KO not coming because I was too busy working out 12x25 or something for the points win, before the big man went and took a steaming great sh*t on boxing.

Go and have a strong cup of coffee. I believe you quoted me and answered that very line YESTERDAY so why are you doing it again, did you forget?? Are you Hagler in disguise?
Hunter HAS been derided as a shot to shit bum, in not so many words, and what he did achieve has been heavily insulted by keyboard cowards.
And would you please stop calling me Hunter's number 1 f*cking fan, he has a lot of people in that queue before me. I am merely somebody that has followed hiscareer mainly due to having a mate box on virtually all of his Championship bills.

Booth is riding high at the minute and has shown great form.

There has to be a question mark as to whether Hunter still has the hunger, but from what I am reading on here, it appears he is bang up for this one.

It makes for a great fight and I would take an on form Hunter over an on form Booth, but the question is whether we will see an on form Hunter or not.

I`ll stick my neck out and go for a Hunter points win.

Correct me if I am wrong but as far as I am aware Hunter has only lost one fight. If he is back to his true fighting form Booth will find it difficult living with Hunters speed and if thats the case I see a stoppage around 6/7.
