if I might ask, was it worth it financially, did you manage to save a few grand out of it, buy a house or two? What did you make in the game as a fighter?

I ask simply for the benifit of young fighters hoping to use the fight game to give them a start in life, and if it goes further for them great, but what can they expect to make out of a 15-20 fight career win or lose?

hi,just to let you all know,ive told the board of my retirement,i've had18 fights,only planned on having 15,boxed some good kids,some brilliant kids,but now find sparring,training hard.headaches after most sparring sessions,and i achieved my dream of boxing for a pro title,albeit a minor title,bit was my world title,many lads with a lot more talent than me never got that chance,i've noi regrets,i can hold my head up high,ive made some great friends in the pro game and wish them all the best for the future.thanks shaun farmer.7-10-1 record.never once did i go to a fight not thinking i'd win,and i only ever knocked one fight back against joe mcnally,the reason being i knew my limits!!!!

Best of luck Mate you was game as they come always in shape. Shame our area title bout didnt happen. might see you if ya goin Hunters fight next week. Ry.

in an ideal world a boxer who has a steady Job also would use his Day job cash for Living and keep his Boxing purses
saved and have a decent amount of cash to invest or pay off house.
exactly gaz,i saw the money as a bonus.as it beat boxing for a sweaty sarnie an a carton drink so i saved haha

Think of the cash that Journeymen like Buckley must have earned fighting every week or 2.

NO, when I say "a few grand" that's what I mean, did he save £2,3 perhaps £5,000 out of it... and as far as house(s), I mean a Down Payment of £5,000 - £10,000 for a normal working mans home or two at 'minimum' downpayment.

Say £1,000 per fight times 12 of his 18 fights, can this be expected? Yes, No???

Yea mate i boxed amatuer aswell and sometimes i came in after a fight and all the sarnies had been eaten by the trainers of other boxers.
