I think a world rating of some sort is reasonable, though the WBA have him too high. The KO of Williamson was a very solid fringe world class result. But as for Tua-Meehan, I can't really see beyond an early KO win for Tua.

Sorry, but if you argue Meehan isn't world class, you can't in the same breath say Tua is top 5 off the back of two years' inactivity and a win over Shane Cameron.

Now, that was a very exciting performance by Tua, but if opposition determines rankings (at least in principle), then it doesn't give him a top 5 ranking. DaVarryl Williamson was both a better boxer and higher ranked than Cameron.

Damn, even oliver is making more sense than adam...

Solomon Haumono was never regarded as more than somebody who could KO most heavyweights in the Pacific region. He turned to pro boxing far too late to go too far and then took a couple of years off.

actually it is not a huge stretch to think he could fight someone like valuev for the world title. unlikely but not impossible.

just look how high cameron got in the rankings. WBO no.7 and IBF no.14. and he didn't exactly beat any name fighters. he still did a good job to beat who he did though. haumono is not at camerons level yet but if his recent fight spurs him on a bit and he can keep improving a little bit each time its possible for him to break into the top 15 somewhere. and u just never know who the title holders are going to choose to fight these days, they seem to just do whatever the hell they like. didn't mundine even have a mandatory defense against someone ranked no.15.

for the record i would hope he wouldn't cause he'd be in for a tough and short night.

it would be hilarious to look back at this thread if it were to happen.

i think u underrate meehan too much. maybe u just don't like the guy. oh well.

u say valuev is top five. u say that he is superior to meehan by quite a bit. yet valuev has been petrified to face meehan for the past couple of years. valuev has tried every trick in the book to avoid him because he is worried of losing yet u know he is better than meehan. if valuev ever does have to face meehan then i believe valuev may need u in his support crew to help his confidence.

ruiz also pretty much beat valuev but even ruiz is petrified to fight meehan for the mandatory spot.

I don't see that Valuev has to face Meehan. Isn't it the challenger's duty to work his way up the rankings until the titleholder is forced to face him? Meehan should perhaps fight and beat some top rated fighters first?

its very difficult to judge how good haye is because we've hardly seen him fight at heavyweight. but if it was true, as has been mentioned many times, haye was knocked out by meehan in sparring, and apparently more than once too. now we obviously don't know if it is rubbish or not but it has to be a bit of a concern doesn't it. considering haye was knocked out in a cruiserweight fight it is quite possible it is true. meehan weighs another 40lbs and has serious ko power at heavyweight.

so i don't see any reason why meehan couldn't beat haye. i'm not about to say that it would be easy though either.

I wish I could say I had respect for the rankings that the organisationa use but I don't. It's okay to use them as a ball park guide but there's far too much politics envolved to take them seriously.

As for meehan knockiing haye out in sparring, I'm calling BS unless u link me to a source

Well...history counts for nothing but if these 2 meet again (Meehan and Tua) I hope it wont be another 1st round 7 seconds KO to Tua.

Nah not sparring this is David Tua vs Kali Meehan.

1989 New Zealand Heavyweight amateur final where Tua knocks out Meehan 7 seconds of the first round. Its ahhh.....quite a knockout to say the least.

Just letting those now some interesting facts which I think they'd want to know. Kiwi's that knew never brought it up I'm surprised. I was surprised myself when our trainer at our gym showed me the fight then told me not to bother telling the forums but I thought I'd share it with you's.

Doesnt mean much now but it happened Tua wouldnt tell ya and Meehan....well he definately wouldnt but I just did.
