Haye-Valuev presser!

Post by Rocky Balboa »

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/8303777.stm

Come on the Hayemaker!

Valuev is so damn big its unreal, like something out of a film. Haye gave Valuev some props by commenting that he's very good at what he does & is quite fast for a man of such mammoth size!

I badly want Haye to win this one. It would be good for boxing & most definitely brilliant for British Boxing! If he were to being a title to the negotiation table in respect of the Klitzcho's that would give him more bargaining power!

First thing's first though! Would be a great victory for Haye, but despite how much I want him to win, I'm not so sure he will! Valuev is more than just size.

I saw a David Haye press conference today on Sky Sports News, it was an absoulote joke a guy dressed as Valuev walked in wearing a mask then him and Haye started pushing it was embarrasing. Back to the fight I see Valuev being too big and too strong for Haye, Haye will take the early rounds using his fast hands and feet but then Valuev's strenght will start to show in the mid rounds he'll walk Haye down before KO'ing him around the 7/8th round

Is it me or does David Haye look like an insomniac? He also looks quite puffy in the face, I think he's clearly bulked up for this one. If you watch that vid on your bbc link and then watch the one that says 'Haye gutted to cancel Klitschko clash' he looks completely different in the face and in size (and that was one week before the mooted clash).

I hope he hasn't bulked up too much. I know Valuev is a beast of man, but no matter how much Haye bulked up, he won't be anywhere near Valuev's size & he won't be able to compete with him strength wise.

In Boxing Monthly, Haye said he would weigh near 220lbs, so I hope that's stands to be correct. I do not see the logic in weighing in at 230lbs or so because Haye needs to be fast, sharp. His gameplan cannot be to mix it up on the inside with Valuev, surely not?

220lbs is a good weight for Haye for this one imo.

Not sure how this fight will go because Holyfield done better than alright against Valuev and he's an older, smaller man than Haye.

Even though there's the joking going on at this press conference Haye talks sensible and realistic and makes lots of sense, I think he's smarter then he lets on.

At the moment I feel pretty confident that Haye can beat the beast but I know as it gets closer to fight night I will doubt him more.

I think as long as he can stay away from his big swings and catches Valuev with good shots, he will have a chance.

Didn't Valuev lose to Chegev?

I think this goes to the cards. Not sure Haye can put a dent in Valuev early and I'm also not sure if Valuev's arm punches are powerful enough to trouble even the fragile Haye chin, unless he has stamina issues late on. My money is on a close points win for Haye (or a robbery that goes to Valuev).

Can't wait though. I think the General Public's attention will go through the roof if Haye was to pull this off!

that Wax On, is a very interesting point.
Let's be honest, any casual but not committed fans of boxing, who see this Behemoth of a man beaten, let alone put down, are going to look at Haye as though he's sorted out Godzilla. We know that a 40= whatever year old Holyfield handled him, but the casuals don't, so if he wins that's going to give Haye a great bit of extra marketability.
It could come any more nicely packaged...a man called David taking on a Goliath.

Unfortunately I don't think that Haye, who I've never regarded as all that slick to be honest, although I do admire greatly the man's "can-do" attitude, is going to make it to the last round.

I think the Russian will send out some feelers very early on and will soon realise Haye doesn't have the best set of whiskers. This will encourage Valuev to fight a more "game" fight, and David will come unstuck around the 8th....although it would be nice to be wrong and have the prospect of an all conquering British heavyweight.

I wish he fought as often as had press conferences.

He'd be 35-0 or 32-3 by now.

RE: David's "puffy" face.

One thing that I am getting tired of on here is the constant wadgering about Haye's weight.

Remember, before the Barrett fight, someone posted the pic of David giving it the Venice Beach flex? Next thing you know every numpty in reach of a keyboard crawls out the woodwork & starts pratting on about how ineffective he's going to be with all that extra weight, how slow he's going to be, how it's going to effect his stamina. A sort of stupid-pool opened up on his weight, in which every fecker declared that he was going to weigh between sixteen & a half & seventeen & a half stone, with several "respected posters" talking from positions of high dudgeon that they could see he was overweight, had been hitting the gym too hard, & to reach such a muscle mass surely must be on steroids.

At the weigh-in for the Barrett fight, David weighed 15 stone 5 lbs. The same weight, near enough, that Muhammed Ali weighed thirty-five years ago.

Not one numpty came on here afterwards & went "Oh, well, that shows what I know dunnit?"

I know it sounds like I'm demanding public apologies, I'm actually not, I just think the boy has proved he knows what he's doing when it comes to training, he's not going to go mad with the weightlifting, & therefore we should all move discussion of this nature on to another non-topic.

That's why I am suggesting respectfully that in future, whenever someone wants to chew their fingernails over the subject of David's mass, we all start talking about something more important, relevant & likely to be a problem.

I humbly put forward that we replace all debates on the man's weight with moans/"advice" about David's hairstyle. Possibly one of the mods can get the Boxrec auto-correct function (the Allegedly Inserter) out again, & replace the words "Haye's too heavy" with "Is David's hair receding?"

I am sure Boxrec will be a much more enjoyable read after this has been implemented.

That's fine but Haye is visibly podgy in the face - and neck.

and as I said, more so than he was a week before the Klitschko fight. I am not questioning whether he know what he is doing, but more why is he doing it? His gameplan is presumably different to the Klitschko fight.

He did look a little chubby around the face but it could have just been the way he was sat, head back, no neck kind of look. He didn't look podgy around the gut which I would be more worried about.

I agree, Haye looks as though he has been gorging on fast food.

I still hope he wins, but he will look awfully silly if he doesn't.

Lucky he didn't fight Vitali Klitschko as I am certain he would have been knocked out cold within a round or two.

That Valuev charade was totally embarassing by the way, the hushed silence in the room after the speech from 'Valuev' was cringeworthy and my face was clasped tightly in my palm by the time Haye was shoving the guy in the mask.
