Primetime Q&A

Post by Wales »

I just e-mailed primetime using the address [email protected] and received a response within around 20mins.

Incidentally my question was

Can you order / watch prime time without a telephone line connected to your sky

The answer (sadly for me) is No, but they're hoping to remedy this for next time. Alternatively I can buy it to watch online... if I had an internet connection I'd plug the feckin sky box into it... or find a free feed.

Ah well.

This is what i got back mate...

Thanks for your interest in Primetime, unfortunately for this event you will be required to have a phone line connected to your sky box, we are working on being able to accomodate this for future events. You can however view the fight live online at http://www.primetimelive.com

Thanks
Adam

teddy - just moved in to a new build house 5 weeks ago.. no phone line, no internet, no spare money, no fight <sighs>. Good shout (ish) on the pub though, however, living in the sticks we only have 2 pubs within walking distance.

I have ordered this fight online. I have sky etc. Does this mean that before the fight starts I should plug in my telephone line to the sky box and keep plugged in for the duration of the fight? I hope that this works as I will throw an absolute wobbler if there are any hitches with this, I have been pumped all week waiting for these fights.

Make sure you post the response as I'd be interested to know. My guess the response will be "leave it plugged in all week".

I have a sky box with old sky viewing card in it and phone line still connected but no sky subscription. I used to be able to subscribe to Setanta with this set-up but not investigated where I stand for either this or ESPN . . .

So I sent the following email to Primetime:
Hi there,

I have ordered the Froch bill on your website and filled in all the required details etc, my telephone number, sky card number etc.

My question, as I am an active sky subscriber, do I need to connect my telephone line to my sky box in order to receive this PPV event? If so, tell me when do I connect the telephone line to my sky box? On the night, for the duration of the fight or can I connect it now for a short period and a signal will automatically hook me up for the PPV card?

For info, I have not had to hook up my telephone line to the sky box to receive other subscription channels, i.e. Setanta or MUTV?

Please can you advise me on this as I will be like a bear with sore balls if this fight doesnt appear on my tv screen come Saturday night:)

Thank you."
Response from Primetime:
Yes you will need to have your phoneline connected for this event, your phoneline should be permanently connected to your sky box to purchase pay per view events through your remote control. We are looking into the functionality not to require the phone line connection but this will not be in place for the Froch fight. You should connect your phone line now and leave it connected until after the event has finished at the very least.

It wont work then.

My mobile is the contact number at SKY but primetime say the phone line needs to be connected to the box for it to work. Im guessing its to do with encryption codes being sent down the phone line as they dont have satellite decryption capabilities as yet?!!

I have a feeling loads of people are going to suffer and not get a picture on this. Theres around 4 people on this forum who've almost fallen foul of primetime and the no phone line. I wonder if they'll offer refunds to those who dont end up getting a picture, or those that've realised now but already booked.
