:OhYes:

He sees the same steel in Froch that he seen in Calzaghe - and knows that Froch is the Real Deal.

Shaw was so scared, he changed into a black man and grew some dreads(last pic).

To be honest...............

I know that physical appearances can be deceiver

But this Dirrell looks like a cab driver or refuse collector / part time fighter - just going by the photos

I just got the impression of a lower class fighter from him

Of course he could prove that to be all wrong in the ring

But if Froch just smashes this guy up easy - then I would not be too surprised

today's press conference.

froch making out he's said nothing in the build up.

dirrell has said stuff.

but least none of it has been all this 'he's scared' shit that froch has come out with.

dirrell said it best today.

'it's over' :OhYes:

Dirrell looks very relaxed, and also a fair bit bigger than Carl . If anybody looks at all nervous in those pics - I`d say its Froch.

Who is gonna be feeling the most pressure from this fight? I`m thinking Carl. He is the home town fighter this time, against a guy he is (over here anyway) heavilly favoured to brush aside.

Does anyone think Frochy is sounding hopeful with some of his comments:

1. The 8000 crowd will intimidate him - what if they dont and he rises to the occasion?
2. He won't be able to handle the step up in class - and if he can?
3. He won't be able to take my power - well what if he can?
4. Direll is probably going to be weight drained and flying back from NY over the weekend will tire him too - you hope so?

Froch would say the same things whether it was Dirrell or not. He would say the same things about Andre Ward. I don't think there's any point in analysing what they say. It's about body language in these press conferences, and, perhaps, noticing if a fighter doesn't look healthy (both Dirrell and Froch look healthy, imo). Both boxers believe they will win; only one will be correct.

Dirrell thinks it will be easy to land on Froch, and that he has enough power to really bash him up (which he does, imo). I think Dirrell's power is damaging though not concussive. Still, something to be respectful of.

I think Froch will be prepared that Dirrell will be flashy and fast. I also think that Dirrell will be surprised at how awkward it is to fight Froch. It looks easy (especially the early rounds vs Jermain Taylor), but I'm pretty sure it's a different story when you're in the ring opposite him.

if Froch connects, this fight will be over IMO.

that said, the dude does look very relaxed, and a fair size. Plus, since he's come over, he's been very respectful (at least that news snippet someone put up yesterday - sorry I don't remember his name or I'd credit him..)...I think fear can be a factor in a lot of trash talk, and also to try to unnerve your opponent, and given that this guy has said he has a lot of respect for Froch etc.. he isn't afraid to give him some praise, I think these are the types you wanna be wary of.

In addition, let's suppose Dirrell turns out to be a complete slickster, which by all accounts he is, Froch struggled hugely to get into any sort of rhythm versus Taylor and in the end went for a "blunt instrument"...if Froch can't get going early on, and Dirrell starts to make him miss, that 8000 crowd could be like a chain round his neck.

This said, Froch is is psychologically very strong and will remain positive whatever is happening. It has the look of a very interesting fight.

Going by what Froch says, he weighed 167lbs whne he woke up yesterday morning. Says he has been eating well, feeling strong, weight will not be an issue.

Carl reckons Dirrell looks gaunt, struggling to make 168lbs. Points to the fact that Andre was a lot fuller in the face when the tournament was announced. Froch might have something there?

Froch is winning this tournament. You got to give respect to a guy like Carl - he just puts it all on the line! You cannot ask more from any fighter!

I am stunned at the confidence people have that Froch is going to blow Dirrell aside. I remember the worries people had about Pascal (a very much unproven fighter). Dirrell is an Olympic bronze medalist, undefeated... sure untested and unproven... but he looks pretty impressive beating up the people infront of him.

I hope Froch does it, and Dirrell could turn out to be another "Lacy" but I am amazed at the confidence people have in this being a formality.

i meant to say that also....any unbeaten fighter with that kind of amateur pedigree could feasibly be a new Roy Jones or James Toney etc ....so it is not a formality.
Might sneak some on Dirrell at 15/1 rounds 4-6.

Top boxers usually put on more than half a stone between the weigh in and the fight. I can't imagine Froch would be any different, as he looks comparative, in size, to the other fighters. He should not be weighing below 168 lbs any time other than the day of the weigh in.
