Liam Cameron debut 24th october
Aba and British Amateur welter weight champion Cameron is less than 2 week away from his pro debut at sheffield city hall and preparation is going good.liams had top sparing thanks to Arni Farnell and Franki Gavin which as helped with liams speed and with franki being an amateur world champ and a top unbeaten prospect u will not get better sparin anywhere.he also spared young costello which was a great spar.he opponent will be matt scriven .a decent debut opponent.

Good luck to young Liam.
I'm going to try and get there but unfortunately I'm hosting the in-laws.![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

Costello was mentioned above- do you mean Thomas Costello the brummie?
saw his debut about 2 years or more ago, he looked like dynamite, then went on his way with various journeyman type fights, but hasn't seemed to do much for a while (he had a short term deal with Warren as i recall)
can anyone update me as to his progress (i bet jon pegg could if he sees this, jon?)

I hear the training is going well pal - and that the tickets are going out of the door quicker than sh*t off a shovel!!! - I know Dennis is pleased!!!
For the benefit of people on here - I hope you dont mind answering a couple of questions?

Thanks!!!1 - Why turn pro now - especially after winning the ABAs - or was it simply difficult with red tape and boxing politics getting into the GB team?
2 - What weight are you fighting at and do you intend staying at that weight for a while?
3 - Who was your hardest amateur fight?
4 - Is there anything you prefer about the amateurs rather than the professional side of things or is it simply the same training?
5 - Who is sponsoring you or are you having to find a job to fit around boxing?

1 - Why turn pro now - becouse i beaten everybody at british level as an amature and they wasent going to improve me by sending me to eus/worldchampion,but sending the lad i beat 10,0!, i would have had to do the same again the year later then be in the same spot and still might not get picked over lads i beat lol
2 - What weight are you fighting at and do you intend staying at that weight for a while?i will weight 10stones10.i am very big for the weight so maybe might move up qicky who knows
3 - Who was your hardest amateur fight?i would have to say dudley osaunessey the first time i had hard fights building up to him so took edge of me i won,8,6 but second time around i beat him 15,2.
4 - Is there anything you prefer about the amateurs rather than the professional side of things or is it simply the same training?i feel beter in myself beein a pro but i realy dont no yet becouse i havent boxed.my trainings great be doin 8rounds 3minit round with 30sec rest, weights and so on
lol,i been going to a lot of amature fights handing medals out.been to many football games on the pitch and yesterday was on steve bunce live tour with andre dirrel talking about fings so far but am just happy that people are comeing to watch me fight and are behind me thank you!
5 - Who is sponsoring you or are you having to find a job to fit around boxing?am putting all my eggs into boxing,my sponcer is sheffield kitchen out let who have helped so much

Re: Liam Cameron debut 24th october
yes plenty of news on nicki,he has had time out and the reason is nicki lost his grandma in feb after a long illness,he was so close to her and when she lost her fight he thought whats the point and it proper messed his head up.9 months on he as just finished his second week back in the gym,got all his cnp suppliments and trained, not as we want him too yet,we r not puttin no pressure on him but he did a couple of rounds with liam and looked as though e never been out.hes about 10st 10-12 so wen he starts proper the weight will cum off.e said wen can i fight i told him wen u r 100% focused ,fit and head right.Pugilist-specialist wrote:Any news on Nicky Smedley ? A very honest summing up - I remember that sh*t when I was trying to sleep on the way to Vegas wanting to shave my eyebrows, or wanting to put toothpaste on me or simply poking me in the eye - it just seemed everytime I wanted to settle that ***t was winding me up with his mate Ibbo - but his dry sense of humour with the air stewardess was f*cking hilarious!!!
It will be fantastic to see him back focussed and wanting to do well and really going for it no matter what is put in his way!!!
Tell him - he is in for a lecture when I see him!!!
