Audleys Prizefighter trophy auction

Post by Old bones Ian »

Here's article and links to the auction for the Prizefighter trophy that Audley won, its to raise funds for Michael Sprotts sisters kids.

Hope it goes for a good amount, nice gesture by Audley.

Well done Audley.

On a seperate matter, from the article:
However, following Mr Harrison’s triumph in the inaugural three-minute three-round showpiece, the one-time Olympic gold medallist decided to show his support to the family.

Well, before you say that, don't forget he's got to put food on his own table. That prize money is his wage.

Audleys other option was to not mention the Sprott family at all and not donate anything, praise him for what he did do don't slag him for what he didn't

Not often you'll see the words 'classy' and 'Audley' in the same sentence, but I was surprised by this gesture.

He probably is, or was just about a millionaire.

The contract from the BBC was for one million, but that would have had to have paid for trainers, sparring partners etc as well as paying his wages.

Good on him - you could also see it as Audley knows who would have won if Sprott stayed in :DD

He had some good sponsorship deals when he turned pro, it's conceivable that he might have a million left in the bank.

He bought a house in Las Vegas - but that won't have cost much probably - because Vegas is cheap as chips.

This pre-pf article had him talking about his money situation.

I think him donating the trophy was linked to the tragic loss of his own brother this year (or perhaps it was last year), he probably knows what Sprott is going through more than most do. A very decent gesture in my book!
